Russia will never attack any NATO country, that is understandable to all responsible politicians, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said.

"We do not have any such plans. I think everyone in NATO knows this, but they simply use it as a pretext to deploy more technical equipment and battalions, as a guarantee that, as before, the United States will continue to keep an eye on this entire area," the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry commented.
Mr. Lavrov emphasized that Moscow believes that the fundamental threat is "NATO's further expansion to the East."
"We consider the threat not to be NATO's existence itself, but to the way the military alliance acts in practice," Sergei Lavrov announced.
According to the Russian Minister, "serious analysts believe that now the Alliance is trying to seize the pretext provided by the coup in Ukraine, to come up with a new justification for NATO's existence."
