Russia urges US not to 'play with fire' on chemical weapons
The Russian Foreign Ministry called on the US and its allies not to "play with fire" and not to violate the Chemical Weapons Convention.

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Russia called on the US and its allies to “not play with fire” so as not to completely destroy the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) regime.
“NATO wants to inflict a “strategic defeat” on Russia, and even uses chemical provocations, which have been carried out for many years in Ukraine and Syria. We warn Washington and its allies not to play with fire, so as not to completely destroy the Chemical Weapons Convention,” the Russian diplomat stressed.
According to Ms. Zakharova, data on Ukraine's interaction with Muslims in the Middle East and Africa prove: chemical terrorism is a real threat coming from Ukrainian special services.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman said Moscow will continue to identify casesArmed Forces of Ukraineuse of toxic chemicals against Russian military and civilians, as well as informing the CWC participants about this and about plans by Ukrainian soldiers to carry out provocations against chemical enterprises in Donbass.
In addition, Ms. Maria Zakharova said that Russia will continue to inform the international community about Ukraine's violations of the convention and the actual situation in the special zone, and those responsible for crimes related to the use of chemicals will be punished.
On October 7, the head of the Radiological, Chemical and Biological Protection Service, Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, said that Ukraine was preparing a provocation accusing Russia of using toxic substances in the airstrikes. At the same time, the Kiev government used chemicals such as chloropicrin, Bi-Z, hydrocyanic acid and cyanogen chloride more than 400 times in the special operation.
The general accused the United States of being involved in the impending provocation - this is evidenced by the statement of the US representative to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons Nicole Champagne. In addition, General Kirillov said, another evidence is the excessive supply of personal protective equipment to Ukraine.
