The Russian Foreign Minister called on the West to recognize the new balance of power in the world.
According to RIA Novosti, the Russian Foreign Ministry website quoted Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov's speech at the G20 Foreign Ministers' meeting, stating that at the meeting in Saudi Arabia, Russia and the United States discussed that it is time for the West to accept the new balance of power in the world and build relations based on respect.
""It is time for the West to accept a new balance of power and begin building relations with the world's majority nations on the basis of mutual respect. We also discussed this issue with our American counterparts in Riyadh and agreed on the main point: international relations should be built on the basis of recognizing that each country has its own national interests," said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
Lavrov emphasized that the crisis in Ukraine can only be resolved by eliminating its root causes, including fulfilling obligations to respect human rights, including the right to language and religion, and adhering to the principle of indivisible security in Europe.
The Russian Foreign Minister noted that the uncontrolled financial and arms support from those backing the Ukrainian government is currently preventing the conflict from ending.
In Ukraine, Member of Parliament Anna Skorokhod stated on the YouTube channel "News Live" that the majority of MPs are looking forward to the signing of a peace treaty and elections in the country in the near future.
"Right now, all we're talking about is that after the peace treaty is signed, we will have presidential, parliamentary, and local elections," Skorokhod said.
The delegate also added that the Ukrainian Parliament is preparing to amend the Ukrainian Election Code.
