Russia hopes US-Taliban talks will only stall and not 'die'
(Baonghean.vn) - Russia hopes that the US-Taliban negotiations are only stalled and not "dead" as US President Donald Trump described them, said Mr. Zamir Kabulov, Director of the 2nd Asia Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

"We regret that the negotiation process has stalled. We still believe that the negotiations will only be postponed but not finished. Emotions are running high, the last straw is the last straw, but we believe that at some point both sides will return and continue negotiations to complete the agreement," said the Russian President's Special Envoy to Afghanistan, Mr. Kabulov.
Moscow saw the potential of the deal, viewing it as “an important step that could pave the way for reconciliation and help stabilize the crisis situation in Afghanistan,” Kabulov said.
After the secret talks in David between the US President and Taliban leaders were canceled just before "G hour", Trump affirmed that peace talks with the Taliban were "dead".
The Taliban had earlier claimed responsibility for the explosion in the Kabul area, which saw two NATO officers among the victims, one from the US and the other from Romania.
