Russia: The US may postpone the overthrow of President Assad.
(Baonghean.vn) - The issue of overthrowing Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad is no longer the primary task for the United States. This is the assessment of Aleksey Pushkov, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the State Duma (Lower House) of Russia.
Pushkov told Ria Novosti on September 15 that "Assad's fate will be decided later. Overthrowing Assad is no longer the top priority in US policy; they acknowledge there are other, more urgent tasks such as the fight against the Islamic State (IS) and Jabhat al-Nusra."

Meanwhile, on the same day, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said that in the three days since the ceasefire brokered by Russia and the US came into effect in Syria, only Russia and the Syrian army have complied with the ceasefire, while the opposition, which the US calls "moderate," has continued shelling residential areas.
Furthermore, the ministry accused the US of trying to conceal its failure to distinguish between "moderate opposition" and terrorists in Syria.

On the same day, the UN special envoy for Syria, Staffan de Mistura, said that the Syrian government was blocking the delivery of UN aid, which was supposed to be free to move under the aforementioned ceasefire agreement. He called on the Damascus authorities to allow the aid shipments into the country “immediately.”
On the same day, the French Foreign Minister expressed his desire to receive the text of the ceasefire agreement reached between Russia and the United States to ensure there is no confusion regarding the targets on the ground.
