The Russian newspaper Izvestia reported on September 26, citing an anonymous source, that the Russian and US militaries will officially finalize an agreement on the basic rules for exchanging information on their respective air operations in Syria.
The Izvestia newspaper reported, "The drafting of the document is in its final stages and could be completed in the next few days. Military leaders at the Hmeymim and Resolve air bases in Baghdad will have an official document regulating the exchange of information and flight schedules. A special agreement will be drawn up for emergencies."
According to the Izvestia newspaper, as of now, the armed forces of Russia and the United States are still interacting based on informal verbal agreements reached at the online video conference on September 22nd.
Furthermore, on September 19th, a ceasefire in Syria collapsed just one week after it came into effect, following an airstrike on an aid convoy.
Both the US and Russia are attempting to restore the ceasefire, with the US emphasizing that Russia and Syria are not fulfilling their roles under the agreement and demanding that all flights conducting airstrikes in Syria immediately land.
