Russia talks about the area of ​​buffer zone that can be opened in Ukraine

According to RIA Novosti, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said on May 25 that the buffer zone will cover almost the entire territory of Ukraine if military aid to Kiev continues.

The politician attached a video to his Telegram channel, showing the buffer zone marked in red gradually encroaching on the entire Ukrainian territory marked in blue. By the end of the 14-second video, most of the Ukrainian territory is painted red. A small blue zone remains near Poland.

"If military aid to the Ukrainian authorities continues, the buffer zone could look like this," Medvedev wrote under the released video.

Earlier, in an online meeting with government members on May 22, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the Russian Armed Forces are currently working to create a security buffer zone along the Russian border with Ukraine.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted that any cargo containing weapons to Ukraine would be a legitimate target for Russia. The Russian Foreign Ministry stressed that NATO member states were “playing with fire” by supplying weapons to Ukraine.

The Kremlin stressed that the West's pumping of weapons into Ukraine does not contribute to the success of the Russia-Ukraine negotiations and will have a negative impact. Mr. Lavrov also stated that the US and NATO are directly involved in the conflict in Ukraine, not only supplying weapons but also training personnel in the UK, Germany, Italy and other countries.
