Russian fighter jets have been bombing targets mostly belonging to ISIS and other militants in provinces such as Aleppo, Damascus, Deir ez-Zor, Idlib, Latakia, Raqqa, Hama, and Homs, RT reported, citing Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov.
Su-25 fighter jets attacked a warehouse containing anti-tank missile systems belonging to the al-Nusra Front, an al-Qaeda affiliate, in Idlib province, northwestern Syria.
"According to data obtained through the general information center in Baghdad, a few days ago, a batch of anti-tank missile systems was delivered to one of the depots in the city of Maarat al-Numan in Idlib province," Konashenkov added, saying that the weapons were intended for use against Syrian government forces.
"After verifying the information through several channels, two Su-25 fighter jets attacked the target, destroying the warehouse and its contents," the spokesperson said.
Russian Su-24M bombers destroyed a repair facility containing seven ISIS armored vehicles near an airport in Aleppo province. In Raqqa, Su-34s destroyed two fortified terrorist positions on the outskirts of the city.
The Su-24 also conducted an attack on an ISIS stronghold near the city of Tadmur, Homs province. The airstrike destroyed a tank, a Zsu-23 air defense system, and artillery. The Su-34 also destroyed an al-Nusra Front training facility and an ammunition depot near the al-Muhasan settlement in Deir ez-Zor province.
The spokesperson added that the Russian air force also bombed a base belonging to one of the groups linked to IS in the Jebel-Mgar gorge, near Damascus, destroying an ammunition depot, a command post, and hidden military equipment.
