"In 2018, unprecedented pressure was exerted on Russia in the political, diplomatic, international legal, economic, and information spheres, with the main aim of forcing Moscow to abandon its position in several key areas where our presence makes others uncomfortable," said Venediktov, Assistant Secretary of the Russian Security Council.

He argued that the West, in particular, has demonstrated its commitment to a policy of double standards regarding Russia and its relentless efforts to alter the internal political situation in Russia.

The Assistant Secretary of the Russian Security Council also emphasized that Russia is hindering the US and its allies from pursuing a policy of interfering in the internal affairs of sovereign states, adjusting the political and economic architecture to serve its own interests, promoting rules of the game that these countries create themselves, and changing these rules whenever it sees fit.
