According to RIA Novosti, on Telegram, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev commented on US President Donald Trump's statement that "Russia is playing with fire."

"Regarding President Trump's statements that Russian President Vladimir Putin is 'playing with fire' and that 'really bad things' are happening to Russia, I only know one truly bad thing – World War III. I hope Mr. Trump understands this!" wrote Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council.

Earlier, on May 27, US President Donald Trump spoke out against Moscow, saying that "without him, a lot of very bad things would happen to Russia." Later, US State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce further clarified the situation, urging people not to view the President's statements as a disappointment, and calling Trump "a leader in peace efforts in many different regions."

Ms. Bruce added that the US continues to support direct negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. The US President supports any mechanism that will lead to a just and lasting peace. There is no military solution to the Russia-Ukraine conflict; a diplomatic solution is necessary.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that such statements by the American leader could be related to "emotional overload - characteristic of all participants in the negotiation process." And Russia will make the necessary decisions to ensure the security of the state.
