(Baonghean.vn) - Artyom, co-founder of HiderX (Obninsk), said that a new thermal camouflage suit has been developed to meet the needs of Russian servicemen in the special military operation in Ukraine, codenamed Crocodile.

Speaking to RT, Artyom, co-founder of HiderX, said that since the start of the special military operation, the company has supplied drones to Russian fighter jets on the front lines. Notably, these drones are completely camouflaged from the enemy using anti-thermal imaging mechanisms.

In November 2022, together with its partners, HiderX decided to develop several "invisibility suits" and began production. Prior to that, the company had thoroughly researched domestic and international experience in this field and hired a team of developers and technicians.

HiderX's main product is a stealth cloak weighing approximately 300g. This is a convenient camouflage device for soldiers, suitable for use in field conditions and allowing servicemen to easily use all available weapons. The cloak can be folded and placed in a bag or backpack. According to Artyom, Western media have repeatedly written about the development of HiderX as a new means of deceiving the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Since March 2024, HiderX has begun supplying the military with another, more advanced product – a stealth suit. It's well-suited for fighter aircraft that need to maintain high maneuverability. The total weight of the suit is approximately 400g. HiderX also manufactures raincoats, awnings, and heat-resistant tarpaulins for weapons and soldiers in the field.

Sharing insights into the mechanism of thermal imaging camouflage, Mr. Artyom explained that there are two main approaches to creating stealth suits. The first involves retaining heat radiating from the human body. To achieve this, multi-layered and rather heavy camouflage suits are needed. These are often uncomfortable even during moderate movement and drain a soldier's energy, especially in warm weather. Additionally, such suits must be periodically treated with special sprays to maintain their thermal imaging properties.

The second approach relies on shielding, that is, the reflection of light from tactical clothing. For this purpose, a special coating is applied. The composition of the material from which it is made is also of great importance.

"To be precise, achieving complete invisibility for a soldier is impossible. However, modern camouflage techniques can significantly reduce the likelihood of detection by the enemy, especially if the soldier carefully disguises and conceals their weapons. In this case, the silhouette of the suit seems to blend into the surrounding environment. Therefore, soldiers need to be highly trained in tactics and proficient in using invisibility suits," said the co-founder of HiderX.

According to Artyom, Russia's special military operation in Ukraine has profoundly changed combat technology in reconnaissance and target detection. During the day, it is almost impossible to focus on attacks along the line of combat contact. The average nighttime is 12 hours. Throughout this time, artillerymen, attack aircraft, snipers, reconnaissance officers, drone crews, special forces, and doctors wear thermal camouflage to operate.

Therefore, HiderX also plans to develop a chameleon-like suit that can change color depending on the environment. Mr. Artyom believes that the modern military battlefield requires the widest possible distribution of thermal imaging camouflage equipment.
