Russia's new micro-helicopter allows individual soldiers to maneuver flexibly through minefields and natural obstacles with the ability to assemble rapidly right on the battlefield.
Russian experts have just announced a project to develop a miniature, manned helicopter specifically designed to support soldiers in navigating challenging terrain such as minefields, rivers, and dense forests. This vehicle is expected to create a breakthrough in infantry mobility in high-intensity combat zones.
Alternatives to off-road vehicles on the battlefield.
According to Dmitry Kuzyakin, Chief Engineer of the Integrated Unmanned Solutions Center, this project was created to overcome the limitations of current ground transportation vehicles. In military operations, soldiers often use all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) or motorcycles for rapid movement, but these vehicles are vulnerable to mines or detection by enemy unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
The new micro-helicopter allows pilots to fly at low altitudes, utilizing natural cover such as tree canopies for concealment. This not only increases survivability but also helps soldiers overcome obstacles inaccessible to ground vehicles, such as rivers, lakes, or dense jungle areas.

Advantages of coaxial rotor configuration

This design offers several important advantages for a microvehicle:

Mr. Kuzyakin stated that controlling this micro-helicopter is not overly complicated, especially for soldiers who already have experience controlling first-person view (FPV) UAVs. The control system is designed to be quickly mastered through flight simulation software developed by the engineering team.
Although detailed specifications have not been fully revealed, the designer claims the vehicle is capable of transporting a soldier with full personal equipment over a considerable distance. If mass-produced, this "flying off-road vehicle" could significantly change the combat methods and target approach of elite special forces and infantry units.
