Previously, according to Russian reports on the bloody terrorist attack that occurred on March 11 in Damascus, Syria, 74 civilians were killed, including Iraqi pilgrims, members of the national defense forces, and Syrian civilians. More than 120 people were injured in the explosion.

However, some Western members of the Security Council disagreed with the report. Instead, they accused the Syrian government of prolonging the war, resulting in the deaths of millions of innocent civilians. “These one-sided political opinions are a lifeline for terrorists. Therefore, Russia was forced to veto the Security Council’s humanitarian resolution,” the Russian Foreign Ministry stated.

The Russian Foreign Ministry also stated, “In discussions on Syrian issues, the West has always set a ‘standard model.’ Unfortunately, the Security Council’s Syria narrative has never found common ground.”

The Russian Foreign Ministry stated that Russia is ready to continue seeking a lasting solution in Syria, despite differences in approach with Western countries.

On the Syrian side, the country asserted that the terrorists never wanted reconciliation. At the same time, it called on members of the UN Security Council to unite and utilize the internal strength of the international community in the fight against terrorism.

"Eliminating terrorism is the only way to alleviate the suffering of innocent people and to ensure them a safe and stable life they deserve," the Syrian Foreign Ministry stated.
