The Inmatten company developed combat methods using the Taiga net launcher, helping the Russian military neutralize thousands of Ukrainian drones.

Representatives from the Inmatten arms manufacturing company stated that the Russian military is researching and preparing to incorporate methods of using anti-UAV net launchers into official training programs. According to the TASS news agency, the primary weapon to be used is the Taiga net launcher, a system that has proven effective in countering unmanned aerial vehicles on the battlefield.

According to manufacturer data, over the past two years, the Russian military has neutralized approximately 5,000 to 7,000 Ukrainian UAVs using the Taiga net launcher. This real-world effectiveness forms the basis for Inmatten to develop in-depth combat scenarios for military personnel at training centers.

Technology and operation of the Taiga system

The Taiga system is often integrated into popular drone models such as the Mavic-3 as an auxiliary device. Upon approaching a target, the device launches a specialized net downwards, enveloping the enemy UAV and disabling its propeller system. The extended net launch mechanism optimizes the hit rate and eliminates the risk of missing the target.

Three main methods of warfare

Based on military requirements, Inmatten developed three scenarios for using this equipment to achieve maximum effectiveness:

1. Intercept as directed.

When imaging observation stations detect the movement of enemy UAVs—including FPVs, large aircraft such as Baba-Yaga, or reconnaissance UAVs—the system will specify their location and flight path. A UAV equipped with a net launcher will be immediately deployed to intercept and capture the target within the defined area.

2. Support and protect military operations

In this method, ground troop or vehicle movements are supported by a UAV unit carrying a launch network. Radar continuously scans the airspace to detect the presence of enemy reconnaissance devices. Upon detection, the system destroys them to ensure the secrecy of ground operations. An Inmatten representative emphasized that in certain areas, any ground movement requires the support of a launch network.

3. Free hunting

This method is applied when the UAV operator is familiar with the area and certain of the enemy's presence. They will proactively move to the location, scan the area to detect surveillance aircraft, and proceed to destroy them without waiting for instructions from fixed observation stations.

The development of UAV capture technology.

The race for anti-UAV technology is intensifying, with Ukraine also making similar moves. The Ukrainian company AirNet previously announced the development of an automated net launching system integrated with radar. This system can be installed on drones and operates automatically to capture enemy equipment, indicating that the use of net launching systems is becoming an important part of modern low-altitude air defense operations.
