Russia and the United States have a special responsibility to maintain peace.

According to RIA Novosti on November 13, in an interview with RIA Novosti, Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu stated that Russia and the United States, as the largest nuclear powers, have a special responsibility in maintaining global peace and security.

"Moscow and Washington, as the two largest nuclear powers, have a special responsibility in maintaining global peace and security," said the Secretary of the Russian Security Council.

Shoigu emphasized that Russia is doing everything possible to maintain strategic stability. Russia will not sit idly by and watch the arms control regime collapse.

Against this backdrop, Shoigu stated that the Russian Security Council and related agencies are developing a model for responding to current challenges and their potential developments.

Responding to a question regarding President Putin's proposal for a comprehensive analysis of the feasibility of preparing for nuclear weapons tests, the Secretary of the Russian Security Council stated that the comprehensive analysis had begun immediately.

Regarding nuclear weapons, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that Russia would retaliate if any nuclear power conducted a nuclear test.

"Our basic position was stated by President Vladimir Putin in 2023, when, in response to a related question in one of his speeches, he said that if any nuclear power conducts nuclear weapons tests, even if not in a subcritical state, then Russia will do the same," Foreign Minister Lavrov said in an interview with Russian media.
