Russia and the US are holding their first nuclear talks since the Ukraine conflict.
Russia and the United States will soon meet and discuss resuming inspections under the New START nuclear arms reduction treaty, which have been suspended since before the Russia-Ukraine conflict broke out, a U.S. State Department spokesperson said on November 8.
Speaking at a daily press briefing, Price said the Bilateral Consultative Committee (BCC), the mechanism for implementing the last remaining arms control agreement between the world's two largest nuclear powers, would meet "in the near future."

In August, Russia suspended cooperation with treaty inspectors, blaming travel restrictions imposed by Washington and its allies on Moscow officials. However, Russia stressed that it remains committed to complying with the treaty's provisions.
“We have made it clear to the Russian side that the [travel restrictions] imposed after Russia launched its military operation in Ukraine do not prevent Russian inspectors from conducting inspections under the New START Treaty in the United States. Therefore, we hope that the BCC meeting will allow us to continue with those inspections,” Price said.
