Quy Hop Golden Cow Bank: After 2 years, 76 more cows were added

(Baonghean.vn)- After 2 years, from 32 cows invested by the Golden Cow Bank, given to poor and near-poor households in 2 remote communes in Quy Hop, the number has now increased by 76 cows.

In September 2014, the People's Committee of Quy Hop district allocated 600 million VND from the budget to build a Golden Cow Bank in Nam Son and Bac Son communes. After investing 300 million VND in each commune, the People's Committee of Quy Hop district assigned the District Women's Union to manage and supervise Bac Son commune, and the District Farmers' Association to manage and supervise Nam Son commune.

These two associations conducted a survey of poor and near-poor households that had the conditions to develop livestock farming, such as having barns, having labor, and being trained in breeding cows. After surveying and selecting qualified households, the Women's Union and the Farmers' Association of the district bought 32 breeding cows to hand over to 32 households. During the breeding process, the households were regularly inspected and trained in disease prevention by commune and district officials, so the cow herds developed well.

Many households in Quy Hop maintain the native yellow cattle gene.

After 2 years, the mother cows were rotated for the second round, and 76 calves were born. Thanks to that, many households have escaped poverty, have calves for breeding, have the strength to plow as well as have a source of fertilizer for the fields./.
