Nghe An's Industry and Trade sector surpasses 3 economic targets.
(Baonghean.vn) - In 2018, the Nghe An Department of Industry and Trade strived to achieve and surpass the assigned targets: industrial production value, import and export turnover, and total retail sales, making an important contribution to the province's overall achievement of socio-economic targets, with GRDP increasing by 8.77%.
This information was presented at the conference summarizing the work of 2018 and outlining tasks for 2019, organized by the Department of Industry and Trade on the afternoon of December 26th. Mr. Huynh Thanh Dien, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, attended and delivered a speech. Also present were representatives from relevant departments and agencies, and representatives from districts and cities.

According to the Department of Industry and Trade's report, in 2018, industrial production value increased by 19% compared to 2017, and 30 out of 36 key products completed or exceeded the assigned plan.
Export activities showed significant improvement, with goods exports exceeding targets. Total export turnover reached US$1,053 million, an increase of 6.12% compared to 2017, surpassing the plan by 5.31%.

Of this total, merchandise exports are estimated at 720 million USD; export items are diverse (over 50 items), and the structure of export products is improving, with a decrease in the proportion of unprocessed raw materials and a gradual increase in the proportion of processed industrial goods. The processed industrial goods group accounts for the highest proportion, reaching 448 million USD, or 66.27% of total merchandise exports; the agricultural, forestry, and fisheries group reached 150 million USD, or 23.41%; and the fuel and mineral group reached 62 million USD, or 9.16%…

Total retail sales of goods exceeded the plan and increased by 12.9% compared to 2017. Industrial cluster infrastructure, hydropower plants, and commercial infrastructure developed rapidly.
Regarding key tasks for 2019, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has set the following goals.industrial production valueTotal retail sales reached VND 69,070 billion; total retail sales of goods reached VND 59,900 billion, an increase of 7.24%; total export turnover reached USD 1,090 million, an increase of 3.5%, of which goods exports reached USD 780 million.
Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Huynh Thanh Dien acknowledged and highly appreciated the achievements of the Industry and Trade sector in the past period; at the same time, he emphasized that to achieve the set goals in 2019, the sector needs to focus on effectively directing and managing, advising and proposing timely solutions to overcome difficulties for businesses and investors. He stressed the need to promote investment attraction for projects, especially those developing industrial production in depth, industries with high scientific and technological content, high added value and a high proportion of domestic value, energy-saving and environmentally friendly industries. He also emphasized the need to focus on boosting exports, especially processed goods with high added value; diversifying export products, and focusing on market development.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also noted that the sector should continue to effectively carry out trade promotion activities, connect supply and demand; support brand development, effectively implement the "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods" campaign; the National Target Program on building new rural areas; ensure the supply of essential goods, prevent shortages and price spikes, and contribute to market stability.

On this occasion, 5 individuals and 3 collectives were awarded Certificates of Commendation by the People's Committee of Nghe An province for their outstanding achievements in their work. The conference launched the emulation movement for 2019 and announced 14 typical rural industrial products.
