Nghe An's health sector achieved and exceeded all 12 targets assigned for 2025.
On the afternoon of December 30th, the Nghe An Department of Health held a conference to summarize healthcare work in 2025 and implement tasks for 2026.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Thai Van Thanh attended and delivered a speech at the conference. Also present were leaders from various departments, agencies, localities, and health units in the province.

Perform tasks well; take the lead in digital transformation.
In 2025, amidst numerous challenges from the dual disease pattern, population aging, and natural disasters, the Nghe An Health sector achieved many accomplishments in various aspects of its work. Specifically, the sector implemented its tasks synchronously, achieving and exceeding 12 out of 12 targets assigned for 2025.
Nghe An's health sector has truly taken the lead in digital transformation. By July 30, 2025, 100% (53/53) of public medical examination and treatment facilities had implemented electronic medical records, a remarkable improvement compared to the 12 units in April of the same year.

To improve the quality of medical examination and treatment, the health sector has effectively implemented many new and specialized techniques. At the same time, the spirit and attitude of medical staff in serving patients have shown positive changes... The sector has also successfully controlled outbreaks, preventing major epidemics, especially after natural disasters. The capacity of preventive medicine and primary healthcare has also been gradually strengthened.
Continuously innovating its management practices, the health sector has proactively and promptly provided advice and created a solid legal framework for its activities. During the year, the sector actively mobilized nearly 150 billion VND from organizations to support investment in healthcare infrastructure in remote, mountainous, and border areas.

Despite the achievements, the health sector still faces several challenges, including: many medical facilities are dilapidated or overloaded; the quality of personnel is uneven, with a shortage of highly skilled professionals, especially at the grassroots level and in some specialized fields; the supply of medicines, medical supplies, and equipment is sometimes not timely; and financial autonomy in public institutions still faces many obstacles.
Improve planning; focus investment on key areas.
In his remarks at the conference, Vice Chairman of the Nghe An Provincial People's Committee, Thai Van Thanh, commended and highly appreciated the efforts and achievements of the Nghe An Health sector in 2025.

To continue effectively fulfilling its healthcare mission in 2026 and beyond, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Nghe An Health Department to continue doing a good job in advising, directing, managing, and effectively implementing the task of caring for, protecting, and improving the health of the people, meeting the development requirements of the sector in the new phase; to carry out sector planning in a systematic and clear manner; to organize focused and targeted investment; to prioritize investment in a number of large hospitals as leading institutions to guide and spread development; to pay attention to building, advising on, and implementing specific mechanisms and policies; to focus on training and developing a high-quality workforce to meet the healthcare needs of the people and the doctor needs of grassroots healthcare; and to continue promoting the development of a smart healthcare sector.
In the immediate future, the health sector needs to focus on directing and ensuring food safety, medical examination and treatment, and disease prevention during the Lunar New Year holiday of the Year of the Horse 2026.

Responding to the directives of the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, the Director of the Nghe An Department of Health, Le Thi Hoai Chung, stated: The Nghe An Health sector will continue to focus on improving responsibility and management capacity; effectively implement planning; advise on the issuance of mechanisms and policies to create favorable conditions for the development of medical facilities; perfect the organizational model of healthcare from the provincial to the grassroots level; continuously improve the overall quality of medical services; develop high-quality human resources; strengthen preventive medicine and primary healthcare; promote digital transformation and "smart healthcare"; enhance governance and professional control; and effectively carry out work related to child protection and the prevention and control of social evils.
