Nghe An Health Sector celebrates its 70th anniversary.

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of March 13th, in Vinh City, the Nghe An Department of Health held a ceremony to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Nghe An health sector.

The ceremony was attended by Professor Dr. Nguyen Thi Kim Tien, Minister of Health, along with representatives from various departments and bureaus under the Ministry of Health.

Representing Nghe An province were: Mr. Ho Duc Phoc - Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Mr. Nguyen Xuan Duong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee; and representatives of leaders from various departments and agencies.

On March 23, 1946, at its first session, the first term of the Nghe An Provincial People's Council resolved to establish the Nghe An Health Committee. This also marks the birth of the Nghe An health sector.

Leaders of the Ministry of Health presented the Excellent Emulation Flag for 2015 to the Nghe An Department of Health.

From its initial infrastructure, which included Vinh Hospital and a number of medical facilities in towns and districts such as Phu Quy, Phu Dien, and Phu Tuong, with virtually no significant medical equipment, after 70 years of striving and growth, the health sector has now become one of the sectors with a vast system and network of operations, comprising: 2 sub-departments, 12 provincial-level hospitals, 17 district-level general hospitals, 11 provincial-level health centers, 21 district-level health centers, 480 commune-level health stations, and 10 private hospitals with over 10,000 staff members, including nearly 2,000 doctors.

Provincial leaders presented a banner to the Nghe An Health Department.

To date, many medical facilities can successfully perform advanced and complex techniques, such as: cardiovascular intervention, open-heart surgery, vascular, neurological, and spinal surgery; organ transplantation techniques, etc.; and are gradually transferring many advanced techniques, such as: endoscopic surgery, trauma surgery, Phaco surgery, etc., to district-level facilities.

The private healthcare system is diverse and rapidly developing, becoming a model for the whole country. Efforts to improve medical ethics and innovate service styles and attitudes have been regularly launched and implemented by the sector for many years, and have been recognized by the people.

Speaking at the ceremony, Comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - praised and acknowledged the outstanding achievements that the health sector has strived to achieve over the past 70 years.

Comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong expressed his wish for the Nghe An Health sector to continueWe strive continuously to meet the demands of the new situation.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also expressed his hope that in the coming time, with the expectations of the people, the health sector will continue to uphold its traditions, strive tirelessly to meet the needs and tasks in the new situation, and soon achieve the goal of becoming a high-quality medical center in the North Central region.

The Ministry of Health awarded commemorative medals for contributions to the healthcare sector to individuals outside the sector.

On this occasion, the Ministry of Health awarded the 2015 Excellent Emulation Flag to the Nghe An Department of Health and the Commemorative Medal for the Cause of Health to 25 individuals outside the health sector of Nghe An province. The Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Council, and the Provincial People's Committee presented the Department of Health with a banner inscribed "Nghe An Health Sector - 70 years of building and development for the cause of protecting and caring for the health of the people". Several individuals with outstanding achievements received the Labor Medal and Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister.
