February 4, 1947:The Technical Research Institute, the predecessor of the Weapons Institute under the General Department of Defense Industry, was established. The Weapons Institute was tasked with researching, designing, manufacturing, improving, and repairing various types of weapons, equipment, and ammunition for the armed forces. The Institute also participated in ensuring technical support for defense production; ensuring measurement, testing, and quality assessment of weapons and technical equipment; and providing investment consulting and appraisal for investment projects in the development of weapons and technical equipment.
