Nghe An: 103 products to participate in the OCOP product evaluation and classification in 2025.
On the afternoon of January 7th, the Provincial Council for Evaluating and Classifying OCOP Products held a conference to evaluate and classify OCOP products at the provincial level for 2025.
Comrades Nguyen Van De, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and Vo Thi Nhung, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, chaired the conference.
103 products from 55 entities registered to participate in the OCOP product evaluation and classification process.
In 2025, the Provincial OCOP Product Evaluation and Classification Council received 103 products from 55 entities across 37 wards and communes registering for OCOP product evaluation and classification. Of these, 14 products were subject to re-evaluation, 5 products were upgraded from 3-star to 4-star, and 84 products were undergoing initial classification.
Overall, the dossiers of the entities participating in the OCOP product ranking assessment were well-prepared and in accordance with regulations; the participating products were mainly processed products, ensuring quality and design, and packaging met the regulations. Many products involved deep processing, applying advanced science and technology, and some products had already been exported.
Over the years, through the evaluation and classification of OCOP products, many high-quality agricultural products with high utility value and potential for large-scale production have been discovered and honored. This has created motivation for businesses and people to continue investing, improving, and enhancing product quality, gradually establishing brands, expanding markets, and aiming for higher development goals.
Products that receive a star rating are guaranteed to meet regulations.
Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van De requested the Council for evaluating and ranking OCOP products to work fairly, objectively, and accurately, without pursuing quantity or achievements. Products that achieve stars must ensure compliance with regulations regarding the origin of raw materials, linkage contracts, legal procedures, environmental protection, intellectual property issues, quality certification, and regional identity.
In particular, for products achieving 4-star certification, it must be clearly defined that the upgrade is for products unique to Nghe An, as 4-star OCOP products are characteristic products of the province. At the same time, an important purpose of developing OCOP products is to promote the strengths of the locality; therefore, in evaluating and ranking products, attention should be paid to the raw materials produced within the province and to local identity.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested that specialized agencies continue to guide and support businesses in completing environmental, food safety and hygiene, and labeling documents (according to the new regulations) and strengthen inspection and supervision in accordance with regulations. Businesses themselves should continue to invest in machinery, technological innovation, and raw material areas; promote production linkages along the value chain, apply Industry 4.0 technologies, maintain, improve, and control product quality, pay attention to environmental protection; enhance management capacity and competitiveness, promote trade, and seek markets for their products.
Specialized agencies must work alongside businesses to ensure that after achieving star ratings, they focus on strengthening the product in terms of production, quality, packaging, labeling, and market access, helping OCOP products to spread further and avoiding situations where products, after being recognized, fail to capitalize on their strengths and market value.
