Nghe An: Fishermen earn over 800 billion VND in 4 months.

(Baonghean.vn) - Equipped with large ships, powerful engines, and modern fishing equipment, in the first four months of the year, fishermen in Nghe An caught nearly 38,000 tons of seafood, worth 812 billion VND.

Recognizing that fisheries exploitation is a key economic sector for coastal districts, in recent years, along with government support policies on fisheries infrastructure and encouragement of building large-capacity vessels, fishermen have been able to confidently stay at sea and consistently catch fish.

In the first four months of 2017, fishermen in Nghe An province caught nearly 138,000 tons of various seafood, with prices higher than the same period last year. Many seafood products such as grouper, tuna, and mackerel were purchased on-site by traders for processing and export, generating over 800 billion VND in revenue.

Currently, the seafood market is very vibrant, which has motivated fishermen to be more confident in their work, actively venturing out to sea, striving to achieve a seafood catch of over 100,000 tons in 2017. Offshore fishing vessels from Nghe An mainly exploit seafood using the following methods: purse seine, gillnet, and four-pole trawling.
