Nghe An: In 4 months, fishermen's exploitation reached a value of more than 800 billion VND

(Baonghean.vn) - Equipped with large ships, large engines, and modern fishing equipment, in the first 4 months of the year, Nghe An fishermen caught nearly 38 thousand tons of seafood, worth 812 billion VND.

Identifying seafood exploitation as a key economic sector for coastal districts, in recent times, along with the state's support policies on fishing infrastructure and encouragement of building large-capacity ships, fishermen have been assured to stick to the sea and continuously catch fish.

In the first 4 months of 2017, Nghe An fishermen caught nearly 138 thousand tons of various types of seafood, with prices increasing compared to the same period last year. Many seafood sources such as hairtail, tuna, mackerel... were purchased by traders on the spot for processing and export, earning a value of more than 800 billion VND.

Currently, the seafood market is very vibrant, which has motivated fishermen to be more confident in their steering, actively go offshore, and strive to exploit over 100 thousand tons of seafood in 2017. Nghe An's offshore fishing vessels mainly exploit seafood by the following methods: purse seine, gill net and 4-pole cast net.
