Nghe An: Suspect arrested for planting and detonating a landmine in a resident's house.
(Baonghean.vn) - Luu Van Cuc is currently being prosecuted for offenses such as intentionally destroying property, manufacturing explosives, and threatening to kill.
On the morning of November 20th, Colonel Thai Khac Thong, Head of the Do Luong District Police (Nghe An province), announced that the unit had initiated a criminal case and indicted Luu Van Cuc (35 years old, from Bac Giang province) to investigate his actions of intentionally destroying property, threatening to kill, and manufacturing explosives. Cuc was arrested by the Do Luong Police on November 16th while hiding in his hometown.
Earlier, at around 4:00 AM on November 1st, residents of Hamlet 4, Trang Son Commune, Do Luong District, were startled by a loud explosion emanating from the house of Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Th. (32 years old). The explosion caused significant damage to Ms. Th.'s family property and shattered the car door. Fortunately, Ms. Th.'s family members were sleeping inside at the time, so no one was injured.
Following up on the homeowner's disputes, after half a month of investigation, the police identified Luu Van Cuc as the perpetrator and proceeded to arrest him. At the police station, Cuc initially confessed to causing the entire explosion alone. The motive for the crime is believed to be a financial dispute between Cuc and Ms. Th., after which he fabricated a bomb and detonated it in Nghe An to collect the debt.
The incident is still under investigation.
