Nghe An province arrests over 1,300 people for gambling during Tet holiday.
(Baonghean.vn) - During the peak period of crime suppression in Nghe An province, the Nghe An Provincial Police discovered and arrested 351 cases involving 1,312 individuals engaged in gambling, seizing over 2 billion VND.
Accordingly, at the end of December 2018, the Criminal Police Department (PC02, Nghe An Provincial Police) deployed 7 task forces to simultaneously raid 7 lottery and betting agencies run by Hung. As a result, 10 suspects were arrested, 130 million VND was seized, and evidence of gambling money exceeding 1 billion VND was obtained.

This gambling ring had been operating for over a year. To evade the police, Hung instructed the agents to avoid meeting in person and conduct all transactions via mobile phone.
Also related to illegal lottery activities, during this period, the Dien Chau Police dismantled another gambling ring and arrested 17 individuals, proving that the amount of money gambled exceeded 1.2 billion VND. Meanwhile, the Thai Hoa Town Police broke up an online gambling ring operating through electronic games, identifying over 100 accounts in 33 provinces and cities involved. Initially, 13 suspects were arrested, prosecuted, and detained, and the amount of money transacted exceeded 12 billion VND.
