Nghe An: 17-month-old boy severely burned by boiling water spilled on him

Baby Tran Duc Diep, born on January 29, 2018, residing in Hamlet 1 Nghia Trung, Nghia Hanh Commune (Tan Ky) was transferred to the clinic by his family in a state of being burned by boiling water with the entire scalp, face, chest, abdomen, left arm, left thigh and left leg burned and peeled off.

Diep suffered burns all over her body and had to be transferred to a provincial hospital for treatment.

After first aid and initial bandaging, the child was transferred to the provincial hospital for emergency treatment. The doctor determined that the burn area was over 35%, and the child's wound was cleaned.

Before that, at around 4:00 p.m. on May 13, while making milk, the baby's mother did not know that the baby was following behind. The baby reached into the thermos of boiling water and before closing the lid, the thermos fell down, all the boiling water in the thermos was poured straight onto the baby.

The baby is now out of danger and is being monitored and given special care in the Intensive Care Unit.

Doctors say that for children, all types of burns pose a very high risk of death because their bodies are still immature and have low resistance. Children's skin is very susceptible to necrosis leading to blood infection, even if only 1st or 2nd degree boiling water burns, only about 25% of the body is burned to be life-threatening. However, children's bodies continue to grow while the burned skin on the body does not grow anymore, so it is easy to leave many ugly scars.

Doctors recommend that parents should be careful when taking care of young children, and absolutely do not let children near hot water thermoses, gas stoves, rice cookers... to avoid unfortunate consequences.
