(Baonghean.vn) - Farmers in most localities throughout the province are urgently harvesting the spring rice crop. This year, generally speaking, farmers in all districts are reaping a bumper harvest; the yield is estimated at over 65 quintals/hectare.

Many communes in Thanh Chuong district are in the midst of the harvest season.

* In Thanh Chuong,Taking advantage of favorable weather conditions, farmers in the communes of Thanh Linh, Thanh Luong, Thanh Khai, Thanh Van, Vo Liet, etc., are currently harvesting their spring rice crop.

This spring, Thanh Chuong district planted 8,200 hectares of rice, mainly hybrid varieties such as Kinh So Uu 1588, Thai Xuyen 111, ZZD 001, and Nhi Uu 868. Thanks to adhering to the planting schedule, favorable weather conditions, and timely care and pest control, the rice is developing well and yielding high productivity (estimated at over 65 quintals/hectare).

Machinery is being brought in to thresh rice right in the fields in Thanh Linh commune, Thanh Chuong district.

Along with harvesting, Thanh Chuong district is also focusing on sowing rice seedlings for the summer-autumn crop. According to the plan for this year's summer-autumn crop, the entire district will sow and plant approximately 5,500 hectares of rice, mainly using varieties such as NA2 and Khang Dan mutant.

* In Que PhongBy the end of May, farmers in the central areas of the district, such as Muong Ngoc, Chau Kim, Tien Phong, Que Son, and Hanh Dich, had begun harvesting early-ripening rice varieties. These were short-day rice varieties like NA2 and TH3-5.

During the 2016 winter-spring crop season, the entire district planted 2,200 hectares of rice. The main crop consisted of high-yield, high-quality rice varieties such as: hybrid rice varieties Nhi Uu 986, Kinh So Uu 1558, TH3-5; Nam Uu 209, NA2…

This spring, agricultural production in Que Phong has been relatively favorable from the beginning of the season, resulting in generally high rice yields, exceeding 50 quintals/hectare. It is expected that in about 5-7 days, farmers in Que Phong will begin harvesting the spring rice crop on a large scale.

* Do Luong District7,800 hectares of spring rice were planted. This year's harvest is considered a bumper crop, with an estimated yield of 68 quintals/hectare, an increase of 4 quintals compared to the spring crop of 2015.

The spring rice crop in Do Luong is bountiful.

Mr. Tran Doan Hung, Head of the Agriculture and Rural Development Department of the district, said: Currently, some low-lying fields that are often flooded have been harvested by farmers. However, Do Luong is also facing a difficult summer-autumn crop season due to irrigation water shortages and a delay in planting time compared to previous years.

It is projected that during this summer-autumn crop season, Do Luong district will direct the conversion of 600 hectares to vegetable cultivation in several highland communes: Giang Son Dong, Giang Son Tay, My Son, Tru Son, Dai Son, Thai Son… and the main rice varieties to be grown will be: Khang Dan, improved Khang Dan, PC6, Thien Uu…

At this time, as soon as the harvest is completed in each area, farmers are preparing the land to begin planting the summer-autumn crop. It is expected that Do Luong district will finish planting the summer-autumn crop by June 15th. The projected rice yield for the entire province is 65 quintals/hectare.
