Nghe An: Mud buries two women while they are collecting tin ore
(Baonghean.vn) - A group of people in Chau Hong commune (Quy Hop) went to collect tin ore, unfortunately a landslide buried 2 people, one of whom died.
On the afternoon of April 5, a serious landslide occurred at Thung Khoong mine area, Chau Hong commune (Quy Hop district).
At around 5:30 p.m., a group of people from Chau Hong commune went to Thung Khoong mine in the commune to collect tin ore to sell. This is an area where a tin mining company used to operate but has stopped operating for many years.

While collecting ore, a large amount of mud and soil collapsed and buried Ms. Lo Thi Hue (born in 1984, residing in Poong village) and Ms. Vi Thi Huong (residing in Na Hieng village).
Ms. Huong was fortunate to be rescued by her co-workers in time. As for Ms. Hue, she was buried deep in the mud and it took more than an hour to find her and she was dead.
Upon receiving the news, local authorities mobilized forces to remove the victim's body from the scene. Authorities handed over the victim's body to the family for burial according to local customs.

Previously, on March 13, 2019, at the Suoi Bac tin mine area, also in Chau Hong commune, a mine collapse occurred, killing 3 people in Chao village. The identities of the 3 victims include: Mr. Luong Van Tuan (born in 1977), Ms. Luong Thi Hao (born in 1982) and Ms. Sam Thi Hai (born in 1987).
The collapsed tin mine used to be the site of a mining company, but it has been closed for about three years now. Many people in Quy Hop have been going to the closed mines to collect tin, considering it a way to make a living.
