(Baonghean.vn) - Song Quang and Chau Thang hydropower plants simultaneously announced flood releases on September 28th, until the effects of the heavy rain caused by the remnants of typhoon No. 4 subside.

At the Song Quang hydroelectric power plant:Due to the influence of typhoon No. 4, moderate rain fell in the Song Quang hydropower reservoir catchment area in the early morning of September 28. The water inflow into the reservoir is trending upwards and is expected to exceed the normal water level of 526.0m.

To ensure the safe operation and regulation of the Song Quang Hydropower Reservoir in accordance with the procedures approved by the Provincial People's Committee and in line with the hydrological conditions at the site, Song Quang Hydropower Joint Stock Company plans to operate and regulate the Song Quang Hydropower Reservoir as follows:

Expected operating time for regulationStarting at 11:00 AM on September 28th.

Expected discharge flow rate:The flow rate ranges from 30 m/s to 150 m/s (including discharge through: sluice gates, spillways, and power generation through turbines) and may vary depending on the amount of water flowing into the reservoir.

Discharge end timeUntil the heavy rains and flooding caused by Typhoon No. 4 subside.

*On the morning of the same day, the Standing Office of the Provincial Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention, Control, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense received Notice No. 49/TB-PQP dated September 28, 2022, from PRIME Que Phong Joint Stock Company regarding the operation of flood discharge from Chau Thang Hydropower Reservoir.

Accordingly, to ensure the safe operation and regulation of the Chau Thang Hydropower Reservoir in accordance with the approved single-reservoir and multi-reservoir operating procedures on the Ca River basin, PRIME Que Phong Joint Stock Company plans to operate and regulate the Chau Thang Hydropower Reservoir as follows:

Expected operating time for regulationStarting at 12 PM on September 28th.

Expected discharge flow rate:From 76 m/s to 300 m/s (including discharge through the sluice gates and power generation through the turbines), this may vary depending on the inflow of water into the reservoir.

Discharge end timeUntil the effects of the heavy rains caused by the remnants of typhoon number 4 have subsided.

The Standing Office of the Provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue, and Civil Defense hereby informs: the People's Committees of Que Phong and Quy Chau districts; the heads of provincial departments and agencies; and the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control of the Ban Mong Reservoir project to inform all levels of government, agencies, units, investors currently constructing along and on the river, owners of water transport vessels, and all people in the downstream areas of the Song Quang and Chau Thang Hydropower Plants to implement necessary measures and take appropriate countermeasures to minimize damage caused by the opening and closing of spillway gates, thereby ensuring the safety of lives and property of the people and the State...
