Nghe An: Consumer Price Index (CPI) in January 2026 increased by 2.26%.
Increased purchasing power during the 2026 Lunar New Year holiday put pressure on commodity prices, causing the consumer price index (CPI) in Nghe An province to record a 2.26% increase in January 2026 compared to the same period last year.
According to Nghe An province statistics, in January 2026, out of 11 main groups of goods and services, 7 groups showed an increase in price index compared to the previous month, including: Clothing, hats, and footwear (up 1.61%); Beverages and tobacco (up 1.26%); Housing, electricity, water, and construction materials (up 0.49%); Food and food services (up 0.47%); Other goods and services (up 0.29%); Household equipment and appliances (up 0.24%); and Culture, entertainment, and tourism (up 0.15%).
Two product groups saw a decrease compared to the previous month: Postal and telecommunications services decreased by 0.13%, and transportation decreased by 1.97%.
There are two product groups that neither increased nor decreased compared to the previous month: Education, and Medicines and medical services.
On average, the consumer price index increased by 2.26% per month in 2026 compared to the same period of the previous year.
Ten out of eleven commodity groups showed an increase compared to the same period last year, including: Food and food services (up 4.68%); Housing, electricity, water, fuel and building materials (up 3.82%); Beverages and tobacco (up 2.58%); Clothing, hats and footwear (up 2.36%); Culture, entertainment and tourism (up 1.79%); Other goods and services (up 1.31%); Household equipment and appliances (up 0.76%); Postal and telecommunications services (up 0.26%); Education (up 0.12%); and Medicines and medical services (up 0.01%).
One product group saw a decrease compared to the same period last year: Transportation, down 2.89%.
The gold price index in January 2026 increased by 5.85% compared to the previous month and by 78.82% compared to the same period last year. Domestic gold prices fluctuated in line with world gold prices. The US dollar index in January 2026 decreased by 0.18% compared to the previous month and increased by 2.68% compared to the same period last year.
Currently, Nghe An province has implemented many comprehensive solutions, promoting the role of markets, supermarkets, and shopping centers in supplying goods, while strengthening market control to ensure that people celebrate Tet safely, joyfully, and with stable prices.
According to assessments, trade and service activities in the province in January 2026 were vibrant, with many stimulus programs, networking events, and trade promotion initiatives implemented to boost production and meet the shopping and consumption needs of the people. Out-of-home dining services increased due to conferences, seminars, and customer appreciation events organized by agencies and organizations at the end of the year.
