The reason for the increase in the CPI in June 2020 was due to four upward adjustments in gasoline and diesel prices during the period;Food and beverage services increased by 0.60% compared to the previous month due to increased demand for dining out during the month, which included two holidays: International Children's Day (June 1st) and Vietnamese Family Day (June 28th). Social activities returned to normal after social distancing measures, many schools began their summer vacation, leading to increased tourism demand and the tourism industry entering its peak season. Additionally, due to extremely hot weather, prices of beverages and tobacco increased compared to the previous month due to increased consumer demand.

In difficult economic conditions, many families are tightening their spending, leading to a decrease in purchases of items such as clothing, shoes, hats, and other equipment; therefore, the prices of these items tend to decrease slightly. In addition,Due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, and with the electricity subsidy policy, many households reduced rent to support consumers, resulting in a decrease in housing, electricity, and water prices.
