Nghe An province is proactively taking preventive measures against the risk of a resurgence of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Although Covid-19 is no longer a global pandemic, it has never truly left our lives. Even during seemingly "calm" times, the virus still lurks and waits for an opportunity to resurface. In light of this situation, Nghe An province has proactively taken preventative measures against the risk of a Covid-19 outbreak.

According to data compiled by the World Health Organization, in the 28 days from March 31 to April 27, 2025, the world recorded more than 25,000 cases of Covid-19 infection. The number of new cases has decreased by nearly 57% compared to the previous 28 days. Brazil has the highest number of cases in these 28 days with over 7,000, followed by the UK with over 5,000. Overall, the Covid-19 pandemic is showing a clear downward trend in both the number of cases and deaths in most countries worldwide.
In Vietnam, the Ministry of Health stated that COVID-19 is endemic. From the beginning of 2025 to the present, the country has recorded 148 scattered cases in 27 provinces and cities, with no deaths. Although no concentrated outbreaks have been recorded, there has been a slight increase in COVID-19 cases in the last three weeks, averaging 20 cases per week. With increased travel and interaction among people during the recent holidays and the tourist season, an increase in cases in the coming period cannot be ruled out. Furthermore, although the vaccination rate is high, over time, resistance and immunity may weaken, so there is still a risk of reinfection.
As countries return to normal life, health authorities in Southeast Asia advise people to continue to maintain preventive measures, especially those at high risk such as the elderly, those with underlying health conditions, or those who have not received booster shots.
According to the monitoring system of the Provincial Center for Disease Control.Nghe AnFrom the beginning of the year until May 16, 2025, the entire province recorded 17 cases of Covid-19 in 7 out of 20 districts, cities, and towns. All cases were mild, without serious complications, and there were no deaths. Specifically, Yen Thanh district had 4 cases, Vinh city had 4 cases, Nam Dan district had 3 cases, Nghia Dan district had 2 cases, Anh Son district had 2 cases, Nghi Loc district had 1 case, and Quynh Luu district had 1 case.

In response to the epidemic, the Nghe An Department of Health has directed the Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention and public and private medical facilities to proactively implement measures to prevent and control the Covid-19 epidemic. Accordingly, the Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention is focusing on closely monitoring the developments of the epidemic situation in the world, the region, and domestically, as well as in neighboring provinces, in order to proactively communicate, advise the public, and develop early epidemic prevention and control plans in the area.
Dr. Chu Trong Trang, Director of the Nghe An Provincial Center for Disease Control, stated: The Center has directed the Department of Health Communication and Education to conduct widespread community communication on the Covid-19 epidemic situation; personal hygiene and environmental sanitation measures; early detection signs and timely reporting of cases to local health stations; and directed the Department of International Health Quarantine at the Nam Can International Border Gate, secondary border gates, Cua Lo seaport, and Vinh airport to actively conduct health quarantine for people entering and exiting the country.
The Department of Health and the Provincial Center for Disease Control also directed the Department of Infectious Disease Prevention and Control, the Health Centers of districts, towns and Vinh City, and public and private medical facilities to strengthen surveillance, early detection of suspected cases, and implement disease prevention and control measures in the community and treatment facilities.
The Department of Health directs public and private medical facilities to proactively prepare sufficient quantities of medicines, supplies, and equipment for treatment; to promptly classify, examine, isolate, and treat patients; to effectively control infection and prevent cross-infection; and to strictly implement the reporting of disease outbreaks through the infectious disease reporting software as prescribed.
According to the Nghe An Provincial Center for Disease Control: The potential risk of an outbreak is high, but people should not be overly panicked or worried because currently, Covid-19 is no longer a critically endangered infectious disease and the number of severe cases due to variants may not increase. Therefore, each person only needs to comply with the disease prevention and control recommendations of the health sector. At the same time, they should regularly maintain personal hygiene and cleanliness of their living spaces, increase physical exercise, and have a suitable diet to boost their immune system.
To proactively prevent Covid-19, all citizens need to wear masks in public places, on public transport, and at healthcare facilities; limit gatherings in crowded places (if unnecessary); wash hands frequently with clean water, soap, or disinfectant; increase physical activity and exercise, and maintain a balanced diet; and if symptoms such as fever, cough, or shortness of breath appear, go immediately to the nearest healthcare facility for examination, monitoring, and timely treatment. People traveling to and from countries with high numbers of Covid-19 cases should proactively monitor their health to prevent and control Covid-19 for themselves, their families, and close contacts.
