According to data compiled by the World Health Organization, within 28 days (from March 31 to April 27, 2025), the world recorded more than 25,000 cases of Covid-19 infection.new, down nearly 57% compared to the previous 28 days. Brazil is the country with the highest number of cases in these 28 days with more than 7,000 cases, followed by the UK with more than 5,000 cases. In general, the Covid-19 epidemic situation tends to decrease significantly in both the number of cases and the number of deaths in most countries around the world.

In Vietnam, the Ministry of Health said: In our country, Covid-19 has become an endemic disease. From the beginning of 2025 until now, the whole country has recorded 148 sporadic cases in 27 provinces and cities, with no deaths. Although no concentrated outbreaks have been recorded, Covid-19 has increased slightly in the past 3 weeks, with an average of 20 cases/week. With the high interaction and travel of people during the recent holidays and tourist season, the possibility of an increase in cases in the coming time cannot be ruled out. In addition, although the rate of people vaccinated against the disease is high, over a long period of time, resistance and immunity may decrease, so there is still a risk of recurrence.

As countries return to normal life, health authorities in Southeast Asia recommend that people continue to maintain disease prevention awareness, especially high-risk groups such as the elderly, people with underlying diseases or those who have not received a booster shot.

According to the monitoring system of the Provincial Center for Disease ControlNghe An: From the beginning of the year to May 16, 2025, the whole province recorded 17 cases of Covid-19 in 7/20 districts, cities and towns. All cases were in mild condition, without serious complications and no deaths. Specifically, Yen Thanh district had 4 cases, Vinh city had 4 cases, Nam Dan district had 3 cases, Nghia Dan district had 2 cases, Anh Son district had 2 cases, Nghi Loc district had 1 case and Quynh Luu district had 1 case.

In the face of the epidemic situation, the Nghe An Health Department has directed the Provincial Center for Disease Control and public and non-public medical facilities to proactively deploy measures to prevent and control the Covid-19 epidemic. Accordingly, the Provincial Center for Disease Control focuses on closely monitoring the epidemic situation in the world, the region and the country as well as neighboring provinces to proactively communicate, advise people and have plans to prevent and control the epidemic early in the area.

Dr. Chu Trong Trang - Director of Nghe An Province Center for Disease Control said: The Center directed the Department of Communication - Health Education to widely communicate to the community about the Covid-19 epidemic situation; personal hygiene measures, environmental hygiene; early detection signs and timely reporting of cases to local health stations; directed the Department of International Health Quarantine at Nam Can International Border Gate, sub-border gate, Cua Lo seaport, Vinh airport to actively quarantine people entering and leaving the country.

The Department of Health and the Provincial Center for Disease Control also directed the Department of Infectious Disease Prevention and Control, the Medical Centers of districts, towns and Vinh city, and public and non-public medical facilities to strengthen surveillance, early detection of suspected cases and implementation of disease prevention and control measures in the community and treatment facilities.

The Department of Health directs public and private medical facilities to proactively prepare adequate medicines, supplies, and equipment for treatment; promptly classify, examine, isolate, and treat patients; do a good job of infection control to avoid cross-infection; and strictly report on the epidemic situation through the infectious disease reporting software as prescribed.

According to the Nghe An Provincial Center for Disease Control: The potential risk of an epidemic is high, but people should not panic or worry too much because currently, Covid-19 is no longer a dangerous infectious disease, and there may not be an increase in severe cases due to variants. Therefore, each person only needs to comply with the recommendations for disease prevention and control of the health sector. At the same time, regularly clean personal hygiene and living space, increase physical exercise and have a suitable diet to increase resistance.

To proactively prevent Covid-19, all people need to wear masks in public places, on public transport, at medical facilities; limit gatherings in crowded places (if not necessary); wash hands regularly with clean water, soap or antiseptic solution; increase physical activity, exercise, and have proper nutrition; when having symptoms of fever, cough, or difficulty breathing, they must immediately go to the nearest medical facility for timely examination, monitoring, and treatment... People coming to and returning from countries with a high number of Covid-19 cases need to proactively monitor their health status to prevent and control Covid-19 for themselves, their families, and close contacts.
