(Baonghean.vn) - In anticipation of strong winds at sea from December 6-7, the Standing Office of the Provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense has issued Official Document 230/VP-PCTT, directing proactive response measures.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, from December 6-7, 2023, the Gulf of Tonkin, the northern and central parts of the East Sea, the western part of the South East Sea, and the sea area from Quang Ngai to Ca Mau will experience winds of force 6, gusting to force 7-8; the southern part of the central East Sea, the area from Binh Thuan to Ca Mau, and the Gulf of Thailand will have showers and thunderstorms, with the possibility of tornadoes and strong gusts of wind of force 7-8 during thunderstorms.

To proactively respond to strong winds at sea, the Standing Office of the Provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense requests the Steering Committees for Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense of coastal districts and towns, and relevant agencies and units to implement the following:

Closely monitor information and developments regarding strong winds at sea; inform captains and owners of vessels operating at sea so they can proactively take preventive measures and plan their operations accordingly, ensuring the safety of people and property; maintain communication to promptly handle any adverse situations that may arise.

Prepare personnel and resources to deploy rescue and relief operations when necessary.

Strengthen information and communication efforts regarding weather developments, natural disasters, and response measures to strong winds at sea, thunderstorms, and tornadoes through mass media so that people can proactively prevent and minimize damage.

Maintain a strict duty roster and regularly report to the Standing Office of the Provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue, and Civil Defense.

We request that the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue, and Civil Defense of coastal districts and towns, as well as relevant agencies and units, pay attention to organizing and implementing this.
