Responding to the proposal of the Provincial People's Council delegates at the discussion session in the hall on the morning of July 12 regarding the increase in some types of crimes, Colonel Nguyen Huu Cau - Director of the Provincial Police said that according to statistics of the Provincial Police, the crime situation in the province in the first 6 months of the year was at a low level compared to the whole country, especially serious crimes decreased significantly.
However, according to Colonel Nguyen Huu Cau, there are 3 types of crimes that have increased: human trafficking occurred in all 4 cases, an increase of 2 cases. The main reason is that some subjects who were previously trafficked to China are now coming back to lure people in some localities, mainly in mountainous and highland areas of the province.
“We recommend that voters in mountainous areas closely monitor their children and not listen to enticements to send them to work in places with high incomes. This is a trick of human traffickers,” Colonel Cau warned.
Intentional injury crimes also increased, with 144 cases occurring, an increase of 32 cases compared to the same period last year. According to the Provincial Police Director, the cause is the impulsive, deviant personality of a part of the young generation, who even challenge each other on social networks and then fight.
He said that in the past time, the 113 police force and the mobile police were deployed very promptly, preventing many fights. However, to prevent this crime, Colonel Cau suggested that voters follow the proverb: "One patience, nine peace", and that conflicts should not be resolved by violence.
Gambling crimes also increased compared to the same period last year when in the first 6 months of the year, the police force arrested 731 cases, an increase of 32 cases with more than 2,870 subjects, confiscating nearly 5.6 billion VND. According to the Provincial Police Director, the most important reason for the increase in this type of crime is that the law is increasingly loosening gambling behavior. The 2015 Penal Code stipulates that only 5 million or more must be criminally prosecuted.
Colonel Nguyen Huu Cau also emphasized: “In fact, gambling in the province may be more complicated. These are just the cases that the police have discovered. We suggest that this is the responsibility of the whole society, we must work together to resolve it.”
Regarding crime prevention measures that voters believe are not yet sufficient, Colonel Nguyen Huu Cau said that crime prevention is implemented on two contents: social prevention which means the whole society must do it and professional prevention carried out by specialized agencies.
In the first 6 months of the year, the province organized 800 thematic propaganda sessions, 1,758 crime prevention and drug prevention sessions; organized 55,000 students to sign a commitment not to get involved in drug abuse, printed 1,200 books and more than 500 news and articles for propaganda.
In addition, the province has also built 8,400 models to ensure security and order such as: Veterans Club ensuring security and order in Quynh Luu, peaceful parish without crime and social evils in Nghi Quang (Nghi Loc), community cameras in Vinh City, anti-human trafficking clubs in mountainous districts...
“It can be said that we have taken a lot of these preventive measures. However, we need to do it more strongly in the coming time,” the Provincial Police Director affirmed after citing supporting figures.
