What is the population ranking of Nghe An province in the country?

As of April 1, 2019, Nghe An province had a population of 3,327,791 people, including 1,672,901 males and 1,654,890 females, ranking 4th in the country in terms of population (following Ho Chi Minh City with 8,993,082 people, Hanoi with 8,053,663, and Thanh Hoa with 3,640,128 people). Compared to the census conducted 10 years ago (2009), Nghe An's population increased by 415,930 people, equivalent to an average population growth rate of 1.33%.

According to the results of the 2019 Population and Housing Census, Nghe An province had 848,977 households, with an average of 3.8 people per household; the population density was 202 people/km².², an increase of 25 people/km²compared to 2009. Notably, out of 848,997 households, 96.7% in Nghe An have solid houses with an average area of ​​22.4 m².²/person; 3.2% of households have substandard and rudimentary housing; 0.1% of households have no housing.

According to the General Census results, as of April 1, 2019, the total population of Vietnam was 96,208,988 people, with women accounting for 50.2% (48,327,923 people) and men accounting for 49.8% (47,881,061 people). There were 26,870,079 households nationwide. Compared to the 2009 census, the population increased by 10.4 million people, with an average annual growth rate of 1.14%, a slight decrease compared to the average for the 1999-2009 period. Thus, Vietnam is the third most populous country in Southeast Asia and the 15th most populous in the world, with an average population density of 290 people/km².².
