The Yen Luong Temple Festival, also known as the "Phuc Luc Ngoat" Festival, takes place in mid-June of the lunar calendar and is associated with the Yen Luong Temple in Nghi Thuy Ward, Cua Lo Town. "Luc Ngoat" means: "Luc" refers to the number 6, the month of June, and the 6 combined ceremonies (including the ceremony of reporting to heaven and earth, the ceremony of requesting, the ceremony of welcoming the spirits, the ceremony of praying for a good fishing season, the ceremony of offering sacrifices, and the ceremony of thanksgiving), also representing the 6 weeks of the upper, middle, and lower periods; "Ngoat" refers to the periodicity of the festival, a ritual that cannot be changed.

The festival is held every three years in the years of the Rat, Horse, Rabbit, and Rooster, on the 14th, 15th, and 16th of June (lunar calendar). It is one of the largest and most distinctive traditional festivals in the coastal region of Nghe An province, attracting a large number of local people and visitors from afar.

Meanwhile, the Nguyen Canh Hoan Temple Festival in Trang Son commune (Do Luong district) is held to commemorate and express gratitude for the great contributions of Grand Tutor and Duke Nguyen Canh Hoan and other revered figures of the Nguyen Canh family.

Grand Tutor and Duke of Tan Quoc, Nguyen Canh Hoan, was born in the year Tan Ty (1521). He was intelligent, courageous, and accomplished in both literature and martial arts, with a deep love for his country and people. Born and raised during a time of national turmoil, he became a valiant general of the Le dynasty and made many contributions in battles against the Mac dynasty.

In 1576, while on a march to Thanh Hoa, he was betrayed by one of his subordinates, who pointed him out to the Mac army, leading to an ambush that captured him. After failing to persuade him to surrender, his enemies imprisoned him. He passed away on September 16, 1576 (the year of the Rat), at the age of 57.

To show his respect and sorrow, King Le organized a state funeral. In 1602, the court posthumously bestowed upon him the eight-character title "Hung Nghi Khuong Te Trach Dan Dai Vuong" (Great King of Heroic Deeds and Benevolence). At the same time, the king ordered National Master Chinh Hoa to have his remains interred in Cho May in the Cam mountain range and to build a large temple on the banks of the Lam Giang river in Trang Son commune, Do Luong district, Nghe An province, for the people to offer incense and worship.

In the year of Giap Thin (1664), the imperial court decided that every year on the 15th day of the 3rd lunar month, a festival would be held at the temple of Nguyen Canh Hoan. Every ten years, in the year of Giap, a grand festival would be organized, known as the Ten-Year Grand Festival. The first grand festival was held in 1664, and it has been 350 years since then. The purpose of the festival is to promote the tradition of "loyalty, diligence, humanity, righteousness, and protecting the nation and its people" of our ancestors. The content is expressed through cultural activities with strong national characteristics, such as processions, offerings of vegetarian food to the ancestral altar, a cultural evening featuring folk songs from Nghe An province, and traditional games of the Do Luong locality.
