On the morning of October 1st, the Nghe An Provincial Police Detention Center held a ceremony to announce the President's decision on amnesty for prisoners currently serving sentences who meet the eligibility criteria for amnesty in 2024.

On this occasion, the Nghe An Provincial Police Detention Center has 16 inmates who received amnesty decisions. These are inmates who have made significant progress, shown good rehabilitation attitudes, and have been classified as having fairly good or excellent conduct during their prison sentences; have served at least half of their sentences; and have completed all supplementary penalties, civil compensation, and court fees as prescribed by law.

The amnesty program reflects the humane and lenient policy of the Party and the State towards those who have committed mistakes but have reformed well; it helps these prisoners to return to their families and loved ones sooner and reintegrate into the community.

Speaking at the ceremony, Lieutenant Colonel Pham Anh Tuan, Superintendent of the Detention Center, acknowledged the efforts of the pardoned inmates in their rehabilitation; and urged them, upon returning to the community, to strictly abide by the policies and guidelines of the Party, the laws of the State, and the regulations of their local communities; and to strive to do many good and beneficial things for themselves, their families, and society.

At the same time, we hope that local government agencies, departments, and organizations will pay attention to, assist, provide vocational training, and create jobs for those granted amnesty and returning to the community, helping them overcome feelings of shame, engage in honest work, avoid committing crimes and violating the law, and contribute to promoting the nationwide movement to participate in crime prevention and control, and to rehabilitating and educating those who have erred in the community.

For prisoners currently serving sentences, it is necessary to make greater efforts in rehabilitation and strictly adhere to regulations, so that they may soon have the opportunity to receive clemency and amnesty from the Party and the State in the near future.
