(Baonghean.vn) - The fire this afternoon, July 2nd, in Dien Yen commune, Dien Chau district (Nghe An province) has been brought under control; however, the fire has spread to the forest in Duc Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district.
On the morning of July 3rd, the People's Committee of Tan Son commune, Quynh Luu district, announced that the local authorities had visited and offered condolences to the family of Mr. Nguyen Dinh Luyen (60 years old, residing in Hamlet 4), who tragically died in the acacia forest fire on the afternoon of June 28th.
According to local authorities, at the time of the incident, strong winds from Laos, combined with widespread heat and high temperatures, caused a fire in a neighbor's forest. Fearing the fire would spread to his own forest, Mr. Luyen grabbed firefighting equipment and rushed to extinguish it alone. While trying to put out the fire, the flames rose high and spread rapidly in the direction of the wind. Mr. Luyen tried to escape but was unsuccessful and was burned to death.
