Nghe An leads the country in eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses.

As of March 6, 2025, the province has built and repaired a total of 12,718 temporary and dilapidated houses. Nghe An aims to complete the remaining 9,052 houses by August 31, 2025, including 4,713 new houses and 4,339 repaired houses.

On the afternoon of March 10, the Central Steering Committee for the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide held its third meeting.

Comrade Pham Minh Chinh - Politburo member, Prime Minister, Head of the Central Steering Committee chaired at the Government headquarters.

Also attending the meeting at the Government Headquarters were comrades: Nguyen Hoa Binh - Politburo member, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister, Deputy Head of the Steering Committee; Do Van Chien - Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Deputy Head of the Steering Committee; representatives of relevant ministries, branches and agencies.

The working session was held online with 63 provinces and cities. At the Nghe An Provincial People's Committee bridge, comrade Le Hong Vinh - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Steering Committee for Mobilizing and Supporting the Construction and Repair of Houses for the Poor and People with Housing Difficulties in the Province (Steering Committee 1838) chaired.

Co-chaired by comrade Bui Dinh Long - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and members of the Steering Committee.

Nghe An has completed 12,718 houses for poor households and households with housing difficulties.

Through review and approval, as of March 6, 2025, Nghe An province has 21,770 households in need of support, including 14,981 newly built households and 6,789 repaired households, under 3 programs, including: Social mobilization and support program (1838) with 10,854 households, including 8,686 newly built households and 2,168 repaired households.

Two national target programs: Sustainable poverty reduction and socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas have 7,081 households, including 4,317 new households and 2,764 repaired households.

The program to support the construction and repair of houses for people with revolutionary contributions who have difficulty with housing has 3,835 households, including 1,978 newly built households and 1,857 repaired households.

As of March 6, 2025, the province has built and repaired 12,718 houses, including 10,268 new houses and 2,450 repaired houses.

The total budget to support the construction and repair of houses for the poor and those with housing difficulties in the province is over 909 billion VND; of which the central budget provides nearly 146 billion VND; the local budget matches nearly 4.5 billion VND; mobilized and socialized sources are nearly 366 billion VND; and families, clans, and villages support 393 billion VND. The allocation from the provincial "For the Poor" Fund to localities to implement the Program is nearly 209 billion VND.

Nghe An aims to complete the remaining 9,052 houses by August 31, 2025, including 4,713 new houses and 4,339 repaired houses. Accordingly, the total funding required for completion is more than 416 billion VND.

Currently, according to the report of the Provincial Steering Committee, the total expected budget as committed to be allocated has exceeded the demand by more than 465 billion VND, of which the central budget source is more than 250 billion VND; the provincial budget source is nearly 38 billion VND and the socialized source is more than 183 billion VND.

With the above results, at the third meeting, comrade Dao Ngoc Dung - Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Ethnic Minorities and Religions, in presenting the report of the Central Steering Committee, highly appreciated the results of Nghe An province when it led the country in implementing the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses (excluding housing support for people with meritorious services and housing under the two national target programs).

Speaking at the conclusion of the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh - Head of the Central Steering Committee for the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses, assessed that this is a program of profound humanistic significance of the Party and State towards the People; demonstrating the morality of gratitude to those who have contributed, the spirit of mutual love, solidarity of the whole nation, national love, and compatriotism.

The Prime Minister also emphasized that the program demonstrates the responsibility of the Party and State towards the disadvantaged, people in difficult circumstances, and people in remote, border, and island areas.

At the working session, the results showed that nationwide, 121,638/223,164 houses have been supported (reaching more than 54%); of which more than 65,000 houses have been inaugurated; more than 56,000 houses have been newly constructed.

On behalf of the Steering Committee, the Prime Minister commended the provinces, cities, ministries, branches, sponsors, and people for their contributions to achieving the above results, creating the premise and basis for implementation in the next phase, striving to basically complete by October 30, 2025 - 2 months ahead of schedule set out exactly one year ago when the program was launched.

Accordingly, from now until the end of October, more than 101,000 houses need to be completed in a very urgent time, on average the whole country must clear 459 houses/day, on average each locality must clear 8 houses/day.

To accomplish the above goals, the Prime Minister emphasized the viewpoint, ideology, and direction that this is a very important political task, with the spirit of "only discussing and doing, not retreating", determined to ensure the quality and progress set out; if any problems arise, they will be handled according to a specific, special mechanism.

At the same time, with a program implemented on a large scale, with many subjects, in a short time, requiring quality, it requires great effort, great determination, drastic and effective action; assignment according to the spirit of 5 clear (clear people, clear work, clear results, clear progress, clear responsibilities); diversifying resources (State, community, enterprises, individuals, domestic, foreign); promoting the spirit of whoever has something helps, whoever has a lot helps a lot, whoever has little helps a little, whoever has merit helps merit, whoever has property helps property.

The Prime Minister also requested to step up inspection and supervision work; prevent and combat negativity, exploitation for profit, and waste; strengthen communication and propaganda work; carry out emulation and timely rewards; reorganize the Central Steering Committee and the provinces as well as the working regulations after rearranging ministries, branches and departments, etc.

From there, beneficiaries will have a house that meets the standards of "Bright - green - clean - beautiful", suitable for regional culture, associated with medical, educational, cultural and sports infrastructure.

This is the command of our hearts and conscience, and the responsibility of the community,” the Prime Minister emphasized this deeply humane task, especially the requirement to complete it in 2025 - a year with many major celebrations of the country.
