Mr. Tran Duong Dieu talks about checking filter cores and doubts about the quality of Maxken water purifiers. |
Residents of Village 323, Dinh Son Commune reported that on April 16, 2016, the village chief sent them an invitation to attend a conference organized by Hong Ha Technology Development Joint Stock Company at the cultural house to discuss clean water solutions (with recommendations to bring their own household water when going). Because everyone was worried about their health, on the evening of April 17, 2016, a large number of households attended the conference.
During the conference, the company's staff focused on introducing the new water filtration technology system with many models at different prices; especially emphasizing the Maxken RO water purifier, an American import priced at 5 million VND, the best on the market.
In addition, the company conducted “testing” of water samples for each family. When the water was put into the device, it was cloudy and they confirmed that the water source of the residents here was polluted and had many impurities. Therefore, everyone was confused and worried.

In response to the concerns of the people, the company recommended that anyone who bought their water purifiers pay in installments, and that anyone who registered to buy that night would receive a discount of 100,000 VND; and that each person attending the meeting would be given a bar of soap. In response to their announcement, 29 families registered to buy the machines that night.

The next morning, April 18, the company's staff arrived in the village and installed the products for more than a dozen registered families. However, when installing the products for Mr. Tran Duong Dieu's family, he discovered some important details such as the filter core of unknown origin. Mr. Dieu used a device to check the barcode on the filter core and saw a warning line appear on the device: "Product of unknown origin. Please notify the Anti-Counterfeiting Association".

People of village 323, Dinh Son commune opened the filter core to prove their suspicions. |
Mr. Dieu informed the registered families and asked Hong Ha Technology Development Joint Stock Company to explain. Contrary to what happened at the conference, the company received the information but it took 4 days for someone to come, but gave unconvincing explanations.
Faced with that situation, the people asked to return the product. However, the company director, Mr. Vo Van Luyen, did not agree. Mr. Luyen replied, “If the contract has been signed and the machine has been installed, then it must be taken. If any family has installed the machine but does not pay, it is property appropriation; it will have to go to the economic court to resolve the matter.

Representative of village 323, Mr. Nguyen Huu Thang, said: “Because they tested and confirmed that the domestic water was polluted, everyone was worried and bought water purifiers. But when buying a machine, the quality and origin must be guaranteed. Here, Hong Ha Technology Development Joint Stock Company could not clarify the origin of the Maxken water purifier. Yet they also pressured and threatened people to pay. Their actions were inappropriate and unreasonable. We hope that Nghe An Newspaper will intervene to clarify this matter for the people.”
