Nghe An: Residents accuse company of selling water purifiers of unknown origin.

(Baonghean.vn) - The incident of residents accusing a company of selling Maxken brand water purifiers with unclear origin and source occurred in Dinh Son commune, Anh Son district. According to information in documents kept by Anh Son district and residents, Maxken brand water purifiers are products of Hong Ha Technology Development Joint Stock Company, headquartered in Vinh City.

Mr. Tran Duong Dieu spoke about the inspection of the filter core and concerns about the quality of Maxken water purifiers.

Residents of Hamlet 323, Dinh Son Commune, reported that on April 16, 2016, they received invitations from the hamlet head to attend a conference organized by Hong Ha Technology Development Joint Stock Company at the community center to discuss clean water solutions (with a recommendation to bring their own drinking water). Because everyone was concerned about their health, a large number of households attended the conference on the evening of April 17, 2016.

During the conference, company representatives focused on introducing their new water filtration technology system with various models at different price points; they particularly emphasized the Maxken RO water purifier, an imported American product priced at 5 million VND, considered the best on the market.

In addition, company representatives conducted "tests" on water samples from each household. When the water passed through the equipment, it was all cloudy, and they claimed that the residents' water source was polluted and contained many impurities. Because of this, everyone was confused and worried.

Faced with the residents' concerns, the company representatives encouraged them to buy their water purifiers. They offered installment payments, a 100,000 VND discount for those who registered to buy that night, and a free bar of soap for each attendee. Following this announcement, 29 families registered to buy the purifiers that very night.

The very next morning, April 18th, company personnel arrived in the village and installed the filters for over a dozen registered families. However, during the installation at Mr. Tran Duong Dieu's house, he discovered some important details, such as the filter cores of unknown origin. Mr. Dieu used a barcode scanner on the filter cores and saw a warning message: "Product of unknown origin. Please notify the Anti-Counterfeiting Association."

Mr. Dieu informed the registered families and requested an explanation from Hong Ha Technology Development Joint Stock Company. Contrary to what happened at the conference, despite receiving the information, the company only sent someone four days later, and the explanations they provided were unconvincing.

Faced with this situation, the residents demanded the return of the products. However, the company director, Mr. Vo Van Luyen, refused. Mr. Luyen replied, "Since the contract has been signed and the machines have been installed, we must take them. If any family has had the machines installed but doesn't pay, it means they are misappropriating property; they will have to go to the economic court to resolve the matter."

Mr. Nguyen Huu Thang, representing village 323, stated: “Because they tested and confirmed that the drinking water was polluted, everyone was worried and bought water purifiers. But when buying a purifier, you have to ensure its quality and clear origin. Here, Hong Ha Technology Development Joint Stock Company could not clarify the origin of the Maxken brand water purifiers. Yet they still pressured and threatened people to pay. Their actions are inappropriate and unreasonable. We hope that Nghe An Newspaper will investigate this matter to help the people.”

The approval letter from the People's Committee of Dinh Son commune regarding the permission granted to Hong Ha Technology Development Joint Stock Company to organize a product presentation.

Based on information from local residents, initial checks have determined that Hong Ha Technology Development Joint Stock Company is only permitted to organize seminars in Dinh Son commune to introduce its products and is not allowed to use the seminars for sales purposes. This was confirmed by the Economic and Infrastructure Department of Anh Son district and the People's Committee of Dinh Son commune.
