Nghe An to host National Wrestling Championship 2025
On the morning of May 14, at Nam Dan District Gymnasium, Nghe An Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with the Department of Physical Training and Sports to organize the 29th National Wrestling Championship in 2025.
Attending the opening ceremony were comrade Tran Thi My Hanh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; representative of the Department of Physical Training and Sports; representative of the Vietnam Wrestling Federation; representatives of provincial and local departments, branches and sectors.
This year's National Wrestling Championship is held in Nam Dan District, a sacred land of talented people that has given birth to many famous people, outstanding and outstanding children of the country such as Mai Hac De, Phan Boi Chau..., especially President Ho Chi Minh - the national liberation hero, World Cultural Celebrity. The time when the National Wrestling Championship is held in May has a special meaning, as one of the activities in the series of events of the Sen Village Festival program in 2025.
In addition, the tournament also has the meaning of reminding the younger generation to remember the origin from the history of building and defending the country, the national wrestling sport has a strong vitality, closely associated with the lifestyle and work of many Vietnamese people, associated with the meaning of training health to protect the village and the country. And right in the land of Nam Dan, Mai Thuc Loan, also known as Mai Hac De, chose to make the headquarters, raise the flag of uprising. Legend has it that Mai Hac De was a person who loved national wrestling very much and taught it to his soldiers to repel the invaders. Today, national wrestling activities take place in many localities across the country and have become a unique cultural feature attracting thousands of people and tourists from all over the world.
In order to promote and honor the beauty of national culture, the 2025 National Ethnic Wrestling Championship held this time is the gathering place of 17 athlete delegations from provinces, cities, and sectors with strong ethnic wrestling movements across the country to participate, with nearly 200 wrestlers competing in 18 weight categories, promising to bring to the audience who love intense and exciting matches.
The tournament takes place from May 12 to 18.
