Concluding the meeting, Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Nhat highly appreciated the results of state management of inland waterways in Nghe An province in the past period. He also requested the Nghe An Department of Transport to strengthen and focus more on disseminating information to the public so that they understand and strictly comply with the Law on Inland Waterway Traffic; conduct inspections, detect and strictly punish cases of deliberate violations regarding the use and operation of waterway vehicles, minimizing damage caused by accidents.
In particular, the industry's management agencies need to accelerate administrative reforms, as this is a crucial factor in our efforts to rapidly increase the volume of goods transported by sea and river. Regarding the recommendations and proposals from Nghe An province, Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Nhat assigned relevant departments and units under the Ministry to review and examine them in order to find reasonable and timely solutions, especially the construction of anti-erosion pillars for the Yen Xuan bridge, creating the best conditions for the socio-economic development of Nghe An province.
Some of the key issues raised at the conference include: 1. The Ministry of Transport is paying attention to and assisting Nghe An in attracting investment capital for the construction of inland waterway infrastructure, and investing funds to effectively implement projects on waterway transport routes, and the construction of inland waterway ports and wharves. 2. Consider and study the possibility of opening a coastal waterway transport route through the province. 3. Increase funding for the management and maintenance of central waterways. 4. Extend the Le Dynasty canal from the Cam River junction to the Le Dynasty Canal Memorial, a length of 7km, to align with the 43km national historical monument designation in Nghe An. 5. Invest in the construction and upgrading of the Do Luong sluice gate to suit the Lam River waterway, facilitating the transportation of cement to the Lam River 2 factory. 6. Following the collapse of the Ghenh Bridge in Dong Nai and the local situation, Nghe An province has requested the Ministry to allocate funds for the construction of anti-collision pillars for 11 large bridges crossing the Lam River and Hoang Mai River, especially at the Yen Xuan bridge. 7. Allow the extension of the dredging project to expand the Cua Lo port channel from berth No. 1 to the Military Port area to facilitate the entry and exit of 10,000 DWT vessels, create a good storm shelter, and attract investment in accordance with the expansion plan. 8. Continue investing in the project to dredge and widen the channel and turning area to reach -9.5m, allowing fully loaded vessels of 30,000 DWT to enter Cua Lo port easily. 9. Facilitate The Vissai Group's investment in a specialized cement port for 50,000-ton vessels. 10. Implement the planning according to Decision 347/QD-BGTVT dated January 29, 2015 of the Ministry of Transport, mark land for clearance and invest in the construction of an additional 3000m long runway. |
