Nghe An proposes 14 issues to the Ministry of Transport
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of April 28, a delegation from the Ministry of Transport led by Deputy Minister Nguyen Nhat had a working session with the Departments of Transport of Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces. Attending the meeting were Mr. Huynh Thanh Dien - Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee, leaders of the Departments of Transport of Nghe An and Ha Tinh.

At the meeting, the leaders of the Provincial People's Committee and the Department of Transport made 14 proposals and recommendations to the leaders of the Ministry of Transport on investment and financial support to facilitate Nghe An province in building port infrastructure, dredging 3 shallows on the Lam River, 3 estuaries, installing waterway traffic signs, upgrading arch locks on rivers, in order to effectively serve exploitation, transportation, create favorable conditions for trade, and socio-economic development between regions.

Comrade Nguyen Hong Ky - Director of Nghe An Department of Transport emphasized a number of solutions to improve the quality of inland waterways, in which he hoped the Ministry would pay attention to funding the construction of anti-drift piers for 11 large bridges, especially Yen Xuan bridge across Lam river. |
In addition, some necessary tasks such as upgrading the parking lot and old terminal of Vinh airport to meet the rapidly increasing demand for air travel were also proposed by the leaders to Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Nhat. This is also a necessary condition for Vinh international airport to develop more international routes, the first of which will be the Vinh - Bangkok route, which will have its first departure on June 8.

Concluding the meeting, Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Nhat highly appreciated the results of the state management of inland waterways in Nghe An province in recent times. At the same time, he requested the Nghe An Transport Department to strengthen and pay more attention to propaganda work to help people understand and strictly comply with the Law on Inland Waterway Traffic; conduct inspections, detect and strictly handle cases of intentional violations in the use and circulation of waterway vehicles, minimizing damage caused by accidents.
In particular, the management agencies of the industry need to promote administrative reform because this is an extremely important factor when we are striving to rapidly increase the amount of goods transported by sea and river. Regarding the recommendations and proposals of Nghe An province, Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Nhat assigned the Departments, Divisions and units under the ministry to inspect and review to have reasonable and timely solutions, especially the construction of anti-drift pillars for Yen Xuan bridge, creating the best conditions for the socio-economic development of Nghe An province./.
Some key issues proposed at the conference: 1. The Ministry of Transport is interested in and helps Nghe An call for investment capital to build inland waterway infrastructure, invest funds to effectively implement projects on waterway transport routes, build ports and inland waterway wharves. 2. Consider and research opening coastal waterway routes through the province. 3. Increase funding for management and maintenance of central waterways. 4. Extend the Le Dynasty Canal from the Cam River junction to the Le Dynasty Canal Memorial, 7km long, in accordance with the classification of the National Historical Relic in Nghe An, 43km long. 5. Invest in upgrading Do Luong arch lock to match Lam River route to conveniently transport cement to Lam River 2 factory. 6. From the collapse of Ghenh Bridge in Dong Nai and from the local situation, Nghe An proposed that the Ministry allocate funds to build anti-collision pillars for 11 large bridges across Lam River and Hoang Mai River, especially at Yen Xuan Bridge. 7. Allow the extension of the dredging project to expand the channel into Cua Lo port from wharf No. 1 to the Military Port for 10,000 DWT ships to enter and exit conveniently and be a good storm shelter and attract investment according to the expansion plan. 8. Continue to invest in the project of dredging, expanding the channel and turning area to -9.5m for fully loaded 30,000 DWT ships to conveniently enter Cua Lo port. 9. Create favorable conditions for The Vissai Group to invest in a specialized cement port for 50,000-ton ships. 10. Implement the planning according to Decision 347/QD-BGTVT dated January 29, 2015 of the Ministry of Transport, set up land clearance markers and invest in building an additional 3,000m long runway. |
