(Baonghean.vn) - Due to the impact of typhoon No. 4, on the night of August 29th, heavy rain and strong winds in Quynh Luu district and Hoang Mai town caused dozens of hectares of summer-autumn rice and vegetables ready for harvest to be flattened.

According to data from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Quynh Luu district, due to the impact of typhoon No. 4, approximately 40 hectares of summer-autumn rice and about 20 hectares of vegetables were flattened throughout the district. In particular, in Block 3, Cau Giat town, a power line system suffered a short circuit and caught fire due to strong winds. This morning, August 30th, Quynh Luu power company officials were present at the scene to rectify the situation.

According to Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung, team leader of the Low Voltage Team Area 1, Quynh Luu Power Company, a short circuit in the power line at Block 3, Cau Giat town, caused a complete power outage for 300 households. To remedy the situation, the unit mobilized its forces, identified the cause, and then restored power to serve the residents' daily needs.

InHoang Mai townAgricultural production was not significantly affected by Typhoon No. 4; however, the post-typhoon circulation will remain complex, so the local authorities are focusing on directing people to implement response measures.

According to Mr. Nguyen Dang Tai, Deputy Head of the Economic Department of Hoang Mai town, the entire town currently has 1,080 hectares of summer-autumn rice crops that are in the flowering and ripening stages. Some rice fields in Quynh Xuan ward have already started to ripen, and the local authorities are urging people to harvest quickly to avoid heavy rain and strong winds causing the rice to fall over.

Observations in Hamlet 3B, Quynh Loc Commune, this morning showed that the power poles had tilted onto the road, causing traffic congestion. According to residents, on the night of August 29th, heavy rain combined with strong winds caused a tree by the roadside to fall, bringing down the nearby power poles as well. To ensure the safety of residents, while waiting for the power company to arrive and fix the problem, the local authorities cut off the power and instructed forces to prop up the power poles.

InAnh Son districtAt 4:30 PM on August 29, 2019, heavy rain accompanied by strong winds and lightning struck the district. The storm caused the collapse of one house in Hoi Son commune; 31 houses had their roofs blown off (15 in Hoi Son commune; 3 in Vinh Son commune; 4 in Khai Son commune; and 9 in Anh Son town); and one school building had its roof blown off (Cam Son Commune Kindergarten). Additionally, lightning killed one buffalo in Long Son commune.

According to the Standing Office of the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue in Nghe An province, as of this morning, the eye of typhoon No. 4 has made landfall in Ha Tinh and Quang Binh provinces.

Due to the influence of the storm's circulation, strong winds of force 8-9, gusting to force 10, were recorded in the sea area of ​​Nghe An province; strong winds of force 5-6 were recorded in the coastal areas. Moderate to heavy rain, with very heavy rain and thunderstorms in some areas, occurred throughout the province. The total rainfall from August 28th to 4:00 AM on August 30th was generally 30-100 mm. Specifically, at some stations, the rainfall was as follows: Quy Chau: 101 mm; Quy Hop: 36 mm; Tay Hieu: 35 mm; Con Cuong: 91 mm; Dua (Anh Son): 74 mm; Do Luong: 68 mm; Yen Thuong (Nam Dan): 46 mm; Vinh: 46 mm; Quynh Luu: 40 mm; Hon Ngu: 36 mm.
