Nghe An: Sending students to Australia for training and 'attracting' them back home.
(Baonghean.vn) - Nghe An province is making efforts to work with several businesses and schools in Australia to cooperate and send Nghe An students there for training.
This was part of the agenda for this morning's meeting, August 23rd, between the People's Committee of Nghe An province and a delegation from TAFESA School and 4Ways Company (South Australia).

TAFESA is one of Australia's leading vocational training schools. Meanwhile, 4Ways specializes in clean agricultural products and is headed by a Vietnamese-Australian entrepreneur. The meeting with Nghe An province was organized to explore potential cooperation in education and training development between businesses and schools in Southern Australia and Nghe An.
During the meeting, according to Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Chi, Director of the Department of Education and Training, although Nghe An is a poor province, its education system has always been a bright spot. In particular, universal education and the quality of its high-achieving students consistently rank among the top in the country. “This year, 98% of students passed the high school graduation exam, 91 students achieved national-level academic excellence awards, and 5 students won gold and silver medals at international and regional competitions. Students in Nghe An possess admirable qualities such as diligence, willpower, ambition, and a desire for self-improvement…,” Ms. Chi stated.

On average, nearly 21,000 high school graduates are from Nghe An province each year. Despite this abundant workforce, job opportunities are limited, creating significant challenges in vocational training. “Many students aspire to university, but job opportunities after graduation are low, resulting in a high unemployment rate. This is a very alarming situation. Therefore, we are actively promoting vocational training,” Ms. Chi said, expressing her desire for comprehensive cooperation between Nghe An's education system and South Australian education.
The head of education in Nghe An province stated that South Australia is home to many prestigious universities, with a large number of Nghe An students currently studying there. She hopes for concrete programs between the two sides in the future, such as signing agreements and cooperating in training between high schools, Vinh University, and universities in South Australia.
"We hope to sign the agreement and then send our students there for vocational training," Ms. Chi emphasized.

Mr. Ly Hoang Duy, General Director of 4Ways Company, said that workers in Nghe An are very diligent and eager to learn. However, there are still limitations such as poor technical skills. “Technical skills are only the final step. If they are sent to schools in Australia for training, this will be quickly overcome. However, there is still a concern that Vietnamese students who come here to study do not return home after graduation but stay to work,” Mr. Duy said, adding that Nghe An has many development opportunities, especially with its convenient transportation. The company plans to invest in the area in the near future.
Regarding Mr. Duy's concerns, Vice Chairman of the Nghe An Provincial People's Committee Le Ngoc Hoa stated that this is a current problem. "However, the Nghe An government will ensure that there are many ways for these students, after being sent there for study, to return to their localities to work. Our purpose in sending them there is not for labor, but for training to improve the technical skills of the abundant human resources that the province currently possesses," Mr. Hoa said, and requested that 4Ways Company, after investing in Nghe An, also prioritize the employment of local personnel.
