Due to the impact of the recent storms, many roads in the province have suffered serious landslides. The Department of Transport will allocate 20 billion VND from the General Department of Roads to carry out the first phase of road repairs.

Mr. Le Thanh Binh, Deputy Head of the Traffic Infrastructure Management Department of the Department of Transport, said: The Department will allocate the main support funds for repairing landslides on both embankment slopes and repairing damaged bridges and culverts for three key transport routes: National Highway 16 (worth 7 billion VND), National Highway 48 (worth 9 billion VND), and National Highway 48D (worth 4 billion VND).

At kilometer 99+805 - kilometer 99+105 in Chau Thang, Quy Chau, due to landslides on the embankment that eroded the road, a 60-meter-long alternative route had to be opened for traffic.

Currently, the entire province has cleared and removed 91,000 m3 of soil and rocks from landslide sites on the positive slope; and reinforced the negative slope with gabion retaining walls using rubble stones at 4 locations (equivalent to over 400 m3 of stone).

Some routes have completed phase I of the project, such as Route 48D, which is over 160 km long, connecting Dong Hoi Port in Quynh Lap commune, Hoang Mai town, and passing through Nghia Dan, Quy Hop, and Que Phong districts. Currently, four bridges on this route have been repaired, and over 6,000 cubic meters of earth and rock have been leveled.

The Department of Transport directed traffic management units to continue repairing road shoulders and rebuilding eroded drainage ditches on the routes; replace all bridge deck slabs and reinforce the M300 bridge deck of Hieu Bridge on National Highway 48E, section passing through Nghia Thinh commune, Nghia Dan district, with a reinforced concrete layer; and clear the landslide section of National Highway 48, km 157, in Thong Thu commune, Que Phong district.

It is estimated that by October 10th, traffic management units will have completed the first phase of traffic restoration, and if further funding is received from the central government, they will proceed with the second phase of traffic restoration; completing the repairs to landslide-affected roads throughout the province.
