Nghe An: Nearly 17,500 economic establishments do not register for business

Compared to the whole country, Nghe An has a large number of investigation establishments, a large and complex area. However, the 2017 Economic Census still achieved remarkable results. The review of enterprises and the compilation of a list of administrative units in the province were carried out carefully and accurately. The Steering Committee organized training courses on investigation techniques for investigators and supervisors; at the same time, propaganda work was promoted.

The investigation of enterprises and public administration was conducted from April 1, 2017 and completed in 75 days; the whole province has 8,431 enterprises and 4,878 public administration units. The investigation of individuals and propaganda was conducted from January 1 to 30, 2017; by July 30, 2017, all types of survey forms had been collected and completed, ahead of schedule with 158,377 individuals and 541 religious establishments.

Preliminary results of the 2017 economic census show that: The whole province has 4,878 establishments in the administrative sector with 100,923 workers, of which 62,672 are female; 8,341 enterprises were surveyed with 196,607 workers, of which 79,153 are female; for the individual sector, through the investigation, there are over 100,000 economic establishments without a Business Registration Certificate; 17,480 establishments are not registered for business.

In addition to the remarkable results, the 2017 Economic Census still has limitations and shortcomings. Some district-level Steering Committees are still confused and passive, showing signs of "outsourcing" to commune-level Steering Committees, leading to limited survey quality; propaganda work in some localities is not good; there are still many difficulties in the survey, especially in the Business and Religious Sectors due to limited cooperation, not meeting requirements.

In 2018, the Provincial Economic Census Steering Committee advocated continuing to implement reasonable solutions to improve the quality of the survey to better serve the province's socio-economic development.

With outstanding achievements, at the conference, 1 individual received a Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister; 4 collectives and 7 individuals received Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; 62 collectives and 277 individuals received Certificates of Merit from the Director of the General Statistics Office.
