The Fatherland forever remembers, the people forever grateful and remember
In his opening speech, Major General Nguyen Sy Hoi - Chairman of the Provincial Veterans Association stated that, looking back at the long history of our nation's struggle against foreign invaders, Nghe An is a land of talented people, with a rich history, culture, and patriotic and revolutionary traditions.
During the resistance wars for national liberation, defending the Fatherland and carrying out international missions, Nghe An was both the frontline and the rear, concentrating human and material resources to support the battlefields.

Nghe An mobilized over 600,000 people to join the army; over 43,000 youth volunteers; over 150,000 people to join the frontline laborers and guerrillas.
After the war, the whole country had 1,146,250 martyrs, of which more than 200,000 martyrs have not had their remains found, and nearly 300,000 martyrs have not had their identities determined. This is a great concern and a sacred political task of our entire Party, people and army.

During the resistance war against the US to save the country, Nghe An province had nearly 20,000 people directly participating in fighting and serving in combat on fierce battlefields, more than 10,000 people were present in the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign.
After the war, Nghe An province had more than 45,000 people recognized as martyrs; more than 56,000 wounded soldiers; 20,000 people who participated in the resistance war and had children infected with Agent Orange.

930 revolutionary cadres were imprisoned by the enemy; 2,825 mothers were awarded and posthumously awarded the honorary title of "Heroic Vietnamese Mother" by the State; currently, only 30 mothers are still living in the province.
The sacrifice of soldiers for the country and people, the endurance of mothers, wives, families and relatives in the face of that loss is extremely noble. The Fatherland will forever remember their achievements, and the people will forever be grateful and remember them.

A strong spiritual support for the people
Speaking at the meeting, Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Duc Trung sent his respectful and proud greetings and best wishes for health to the leaders, distinguished delegates, heroic Vietnamese mothers, generals, war invalids, veterans, and former youth volunteers.
Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Duc Trung also sent his warm regards and deep gratitude to the heroic Vietnamese mothers, wounded and sick soldiers, war veterans, former youth volunteers and families of martyrs throughout the province.

"Behind those numbers are countless sorrows and irreparable losses of mothers who lost their children, young wives who lost their husbands, and families who lost loved ones," affirmed Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Duc Trung.
The war has been over for half a century, but to this day many families have not yet found the remains of martyrs; many wounded and sick soldiers still struggle in pain when the weather changes, and many young people suffer from the tragic consequences of Agent Orange.

"Those lingering pains and losses cannot be recorded in any reports or statistics," the Provincial Party Secretary affirmed, adding that through this, we can better understand, appreciate and further preserve and promote the value of independence and freedom. Today's and future generations will forever remember and be deeply grateful for all those noble and silent sacrifices.
Having just emerged from the flames of war, many wounded soldiers and martyrs' relatives have strived to overcome their injuries and losses, actively participated in socio-economic development, participated in building and protecting the Party and government at all levels, and actively educated the younger generation on patriotism and revolutionary traditions.

The qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers continue to shine in peacetime. Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and families with meritorious services always strive and set good examples in implementing the Party's and State's policies, contributing to building a rich and beautiful homeland.
No matter what position or circumstance, you and your family are always shining examples and a strong spiritual support for the people, especially for the young generation to learn from and follow.

On behalf of the provincial leaders, Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Duc Trung expressed his deep gratitude and highly appreciated the will of self-reliance and self-improvement, the great contributions of seriously wounded comrades, veterans, exemplary former youth volunteers and families with meritorious services to the revolution for the cause of building, protecting and developing the homeland and the country.
