Nghe An meets with Dien Bien soldiers, youth volunteers, and frontline laborers on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory

(Baonghean.vn) - The meeting program aims to continue to arouse and promote the tradition of patriotism, revolutionary heroism, and the determination to fight and win of the Dien Bien Phu campaign in the cause of building and firmly defending the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland.

On the morning of April 24, in Vinh city, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province organized a meeting with Dien Bien soldiers, youth volunteers, and frontline laborers to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2024).

Attending the program, on the side of Military Region 4 Command, there were Major General Nguyen Ngoc Ha - Deputy Commander of Military Region; Major General Phan Van Sy - Deputy Chief of Political Affairs of Military Region.

On the side of Nghe An province, there were comrades: Nguyen Van Thong - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Hoang Nghia Hieu - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; comrades of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee: Nguyen Nam Dinh - Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Vo Thi Minh Sinh - Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province; Ho Le Ngoc - Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Internal Affairs Committee; Phan Duc Dong - Secretary of the Vinh City Party Committee.

Also attending were representatives of leaders of departments, branches, districts, cities and towns and especially 150 delegates of Dien Bien soldiers, youth volunteers, and frontline laborers representing the outstanding sons of Nghe An who devoted their strength and flesh to the Dien Bien Phu Victory.

In the warm atmosphere of the meeting, delegates had the opportunity to interact with historical witnesses to review together the heroic fighting years of the nation during the war.Dien Bien Phu Campaignyears ago. They are Mr. Nguyen Canh Thin, Ngo Xuan Quyen - Former soldiers of Dien Bien; Mr. Phan Ngoc Hoa - Former youth volunteer.

70 years ago, Nghe An was proud to be the solid rear base in the Dien Bien Phu campaign that “resounded throughout the five continents and shook the world”. In order to devote all their efforts to serving the campaign, in a short time, the people of Nghe An imported 1,460 tons of dried and cleaned rice; transported 5,000 tons of food; and added 5,438 young men to serve the battlefields of the Dien Bien Phu campaign.

In addition, Nghe An youth volunteers fought side by side with the army and people of the whole country to overcome high passes, deep streams and enemy bombs to supply weapons, ammunition and food to the troops.

Memories of the fierce war years told by soldiers and youth volunteers who directly participated in the Dien Bien Phu campaign brought to the program participants many emotions mixed with pride in a pioneering generation that did not hesitate to shed blood and sacrifice for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.

At the program, provincial leaders and leaders of departments, branches and sectors presented gifts to soldiers, youth volunteers and frontline workers who directly participated in the Dien Bien Phu campaign.

Speaking at the program, Comrade Hoang Nghia Hieu - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee affirmed: The program to meet Dien Bien soldiers, youth volunteers, and frontline laborers aims to continue to arouse and promote the tradition of patriotism, revolutionary heroism, and the will to fight and win of the Dien Bien Phu campaign in the cause of building and firmly defending the socialist Fatherland of Vietnam; to honor and express deep gratitude to generations of Vietnamese people in general and Nghe An province in particular who sacrificed their blood and made many contributions to the cause of national liberation and national reunification.

The program also contributes to encouraging and motivating cadres, party members and people of all walks of life in the province to strive and make efforts to overcome difficulties, successfully complete the goals and tasks of the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, the Resolution of the 19th Nghe An Provincial Party Congress and the Resolution of the Party Congresses at all levels, term 2020 - 2025. In particular, striving to successfully implement Resolution No. 39-NQ/TW, dated July 18, 2023 of the Politburo on building and developing Nghe An province to 2030, with a vision to 2045 and Action Program No. 68-CTr/TU, dated November 15, 2023 of the Provincial Party Executive Committee on implementing Resolution No. 39-NQ/TW of the Politburo.

On this occasion, the Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee requested all levels, sectors, agencies and units to continue to further promote the care of war invalids, sick soldiers, families of martyrs, and people with meritorious services to the revolution, ensuring that 100% of people with meritorious services and their families receive comprehensive care in both material and spiritual aspects, and have a living standard that is above average compared to the living standard of the community where they reside.

The Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee also expressed his hope that the meritorious people and their families would continue to promote the glorious traditions of their families and clans, encourage their children and grandchildren to strictly follow the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's laws and policies; become good cadres and exemplary citizens, strive to excellently complete all assigned tasks, and contribute to the development of their homeland./.
