Nghe An province reduces sentences for 40 prisoners on the occasion of the Lunar New Year (Year of the Snake).
The 40 inmates whose sentences were reduced on this occasion were those who had made great efforts in rehabilitation and strictly adhered to prison discipline; among them, 15 inmates had their sentences completely reduced and were able to return to their families before the Lunar New Year.
On the morning of January 26th (the 27th day of the Lunar New Year), the Nghe An Provincial Police Detention Center held a ceremony to announce the decision to reduce prison sentences for inmates during the 2025 Lunar New Year holiday.

Of the 40 inmates whose sentences were reduced on this occasion, 15 had their entire terms reduced and were allowed to return to their families. These inmates were those who had complied well with the prison regulations, actively participated in learning and labor for rehabilitation...

Acknowledging the efforts and hard work of the inmates during their sentence execution and their subsequent sentence reduction, Lieutenant Colonel Ho Viet Kieu, Deputy Superintendent of the Nghe An Provincial Police Detention Center, extended his congratulations and urged the reduced-sentence inmates to continue striving for good work and rehabilitation so that they can soon return to their families.
For those who have completed their prison sentences and returned to their local communities, it is necessary to strictly abide by the law, actively work and study, quickly reintegrate into the community, and become useful members of their families and society.

Previously, the Nghe An Provincial Police Detention Center issued conditional early release decisions for two inmates in the third batch of 2024.
