Nghe An: Primary school teacher used a ruler to beat a student, sending him to the hospital
(Baonghean.vn) - Angry because her students did poorly on their tests, teacher Quang Thi Huong, Dien Lam Primary School, Quy Chau (Nghe An) used a ruler to hit 23 students, one student was hit in the head and had to be hospitalized.
This information was confirmed by Mr. Bui Hoang Bau, Deputy Head of the Education Department of Quy Chau District. "After receiving the information, this afternoon (March 17), the department sent staff to the school to directly inspect and propose a solution."
Speaking to Nghe An Newspaper, teacher Pham Truong Son, the school's principal, said: "The incident happened on Wednesday afternoon (March 15) in class 4A, with teacher Quang Thi Huong as the homeroom teacher. At that time, because the results of the Vietnamese and Math tests (preparing for the mid-term exam) of class 4A were low. Out of frustration, teacher Quang Thi Huong used a ruler (a flexible plastic ruler) to hit the hands, buttocks and some other areas of 23/27 students in the class."

A day later, because a student in the class complained of pain, the parent went directly to the principal to report. Upon receiving the information, the school asked teacher Quang Thi Huong to write a self-criticism and report the incident.
At the same time, the school also met with each parent and student to reassure them and encourage them to go to school as usual. Student Tuan Anh, who was hit in the head, was also taken by his family to Tay Bac General Hospital for examination and treatment.
It is known that teacher Quang Thi Huong, who previously taught in Ky Son district and has just transferred to Dien Lam Primary School about 6 years ago, was recognized as an excellent teacher of the district. After this incident, teacher Pham Truong Son said: The school will hold a council meeting to consider appropriate disciplinary action.
